I couldn't let almost 8 months of work (lisianthus) be a part of my normal bouquet bar today at the Paw Paw Farmers Market . 7 bouquets getting ready to head to the market. If there ever was a day to get flowers, today is the day. I will also have a limited bouquet bar and My daughter will be there with her body butters/Scrubs.

These might go fast, get there early!

7 months. I have been waiting 7 months to see this flower. January 4th I started 280 lisianthus seeds. 34 plants made it. Three of which are still only 5 inches tall and one appears to have wilt, so really 30 plants.
This rainy day, just opening bloom does not show the extent of this beautiful flower, nor does it show the amount of love and labor that went into getting it to this point. So many growers buy this flower as a seedling because of how many challenges come with trying to grow them from seed. A 10.7% success rate for 2023 is just a challenge to beat for 2024.

As I prepare for my first farmers market of the year at Paw Paw Farmers Market tomorrow, I wanted to share this article. Most do not think of where their flowers come from and what toxic chemicals they are covered with.

FREE Wildflower seeds!

Wildflowers are key to help our disappearing pollinator population by offering food and breeding grounds for birds, bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. In honor of Earth Day I have 200 packages of wildflower seeds to share with our community.

I can't think of a better way to get families together and celebrate our earth!

First flowers of the season, gomphrena. They don't know they're not supposed to be flowering yet in their seeding trays. I am kind of sad that I have to remove the flowers. But these guys push out flowers like crazy, so there will be hundreds more to come. I am so excited for the orange!
