Friday night, the Forum Theater at Grand Living at Tuscan Lakes transformed into a hip and happening little corner of the 1950s as residents, families, staff, and friends gathered together for a joyful Sock Hop celebration honoring our Luminations residents. From the music and dancing to the laughter echoing through the room, the evening felt less like an event and more like a beautiful family reunion. Residents from every neighborhood throughout the community stopped by to spend time with their Luminations neighbors, proving once again that at Grand Living, community does not stop at a hallway or a set of doors. It stretches across every corner of our building and connects all of us together.
One of the most moving moments of the evening came courtesy of our incredible Sit & Stitch Club. This special group of residents lovingly sews personalized blankets for each of our Luminations residents, with every stitch carrying warmth, care, and intention. During the celebration, several of our newer Luminations residents received their blankets surrounded by applause, smiles, and emotional embraces from residents, staff, and families alike. Watching those blankets placed into the hands of our residents was genuinely powerful. It was not simply fabric being gifted. It was comfort, dignity, belonging, and love being wrapped around someone in real time.
And then, of course, came the fun.
The dance floor stayed alive all evening thanks to DJ Joel, who kept the hits rolling one after another while residents and staff twisted, swayed, laughed, and sang along beneath glowing lights and vintage décor. Our team fully committed to the spirit of the evening, dressing in their best 1950s attire and helping transform the Forum Theater into a lively little time capsule where joy took center stage. A special thank you goes to FACETS Assistant Quin for helping orchestrate the countless logistics behind the scenes and ensuring the evening ran smoothly from beginning to end.
We also want to give a huge thank you to Rebecca from North Star Hospice and Carla from Choice Hospice for joining us and helping make the evening such a success. And Carla… what can we even say? Watching her transform into a wildly convincing Elvis Presley was one of the highlights of the night. Those dance moves nearly shook the blue suede right off the building. Somewhere out there, Elvis may be asking for his job back.
Still, the true heartbeat of the evening belonged to Luminations Director Stephanie Elkins. To watch Stephanie among her “family,” as she lovingly calls her residents, was deeply moving. There is something beautiful about seeing a person pour themselves so fully into the care of others, and Stephanie does exactly that every single day. She did not simply organize a dance party. She created an atmosphere where residents felt celebrated, seen, safe, and joyful. You could feel the love in the room because it radiated directly from the care she gives so freely to those around her.
At Grand Living at Tuscan Lakes, we believe our Luminations residents deserve to be celebrated loudly and proudly. We do not tuck them quietly into the background. We place them front and center, right where they belong. We meet them where they are, embrace who they are, and create experiences tailored specifically to their needs, personalities, and joys. We do not expect them to fit neatly into a box. Instead, we shape our services, our programming, and our hearts around them. If that means transforming the Forum Theater into a 1950s dance hall and bringing in Elvis for the evening, then that is exactly what we will do.
Because moments like these matter.
They remind our residents and their families that they are deeply cared for, deeply valued, and deeply loved. They remind them that no matter where someone may be in their journey, they will always be treated with dignity, respect, compassion, and celebration here at Grand Living at Tuscan Lakes.
Always.
We invite everyone to take a look through some of our favorite photos from the evening below. The smiles, laughter, dancing, and heartfelt moments captured throughout the night truly tell the story better than words ever could.
