‼️‼️CLOSE OUT SALE this weekend !! ✨

It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to close the Cactus Room. Sammy and I are trying to simplify our life load with ambitions to grow our family.

Owning a small business is absolutely incredible but it does not come without its struggles. One of the things we’ve struggled the hardest with is actually this decision.

We want to say thank you to all our friends, families, and visitors who have showed us love and support during this endeavour.

Our biggest eye opener from this venture is recognizing the amount of passion, risk, and effort other small business owners put into their work. It is not easy. Please remember that supporting a small business has more impact than you’ll ever know. By supporting them, you help give them the courage to keep pushing through. You help keep their dreams alive that can sometimes be as frightening as rewarding.

Everyone that’s been part of The Cactus Room thanks you. It was such and honor to have this shop in this amazing town.

We will be closing our doors for good at the end of the day on Sunday, March 5th. We need to clear everything out of the shop in order to make way for the next business. Every single item in the store will be for sale from our regular inventory and wall art, all the way down to our iPad, printer, cash register, furniture and other miscellaneous items. Anything we don’t sell we have to move, so just make us an offer!

We’d love to see all your faces one more time. Please stop by this weekend even if it’s just to say hi!

We would have loved to be open during Christmas but our family is visiting from Canada and would love to be able to spend quality time with them. We also want our incredible employees to spend quality time with their family as well.

I once was crossing the boarder and the boarder patrol asked where home was. I said Leavenworth. He replied “people live in that town? I thought it was only for tourists.” I replied “Sir it’s not just a touristic town, it’s a very tight community filled with incredible people.” He let me pass and off I drove to this special home. 💚

Growing up Christmas was a hard time of the year for our little family. My sister and me were raised solely by my mother. She would frequently grow depressed and anxious around Christmas, and her energy would echo through our holiday joy. We were able to quickly learn the connection between her unexpected anguish and her restricted financial means of gifting. My sister and I rapidly learned to redefine what "giving" meant to us. We created the rule that we could only make homemade gifts for one another, and that's when my love for handmade really began to take off.

We used our creativity to upcycle pieces of furniture, make homemade face masks, and make bath salts using what we already had. Christmas had shifted from being a difficult time of year to a joyful and imaginative one. Growing in spirit, my mother became more present and joyful during these times. For us, that was the best gift in itself.

In the Cactus Room, we emphasize supporting small businesses run especially by women and mothers who hand-make jewelry, soaps, artwork, and more, in an effort to support their own families. Giving starts a powerful cycle of supporting another family as well.

I hope no one ever feels pushed to make a purchase simply because they visited the space. That goes beyond our true wishes. If you do feel the need to purchase anything for a particular someone for the holidays, feel free to inquire about the product's origins. We always get happy butterflies in our bellies when you ask about the story behind the product. We carefully select the handmade goods in the store that maintains and support that cycle. Not only are you bringing joy to your special someone, but you are also bringing joy to a family, presenting their lovely handmade creation, and sharing their story.

Don’t forget though, gifting shouldn’t break the bank. If you are having difficulty during the holidays, here are some creative ways to gift with what you have:

*Baked goods
*Upcycling an old piece of furniture
*Homemade face masks
*Make your own art piece
*Handmade wreath with pieces from your nature walk
*Picture collage

But remember, your presence is a gift in itself. 💚

After a short but extremely rewarding time, we would like to announce that we’re looking to hand over the reigns of The Cactus Room. We have absolutely loved our time owning a business in this amazing community.

This tough decision comes from a desire to lighten our load. Sarah was offered a dream job that she just couldn’t turn down and recently started working there full time. We’re looking to spend more time with each other and start a new chapter in life.

Our hopes would be for the shop to continue to be a place of sanctuary in town. We’d love for the new owner/s to carry on supporting the amazing artists we’ve grown to love over the last year while also adding their own values and visions.
