Evers’ Country Gardens was reborn in 1995 when the founding father, Big John Evers, decided the best way to stay out of his wife’s hair and stay busy during his retirement was to build a greenhouse. It first started with a DeCloet structure that measured 32’ X 48’. This was quickly added onto and since then the entire greenhouse structures have grown to an overall size of 23,000 Square Feet. ’ Country Gardens has a wide selection of vegetable plants all grown from seeds and all of their flowers are either from seed or from baby starter plants. ECG prides themselves on knowledgeable people and quality plant material.

And no, it was not Kevin who grew too many. This time, Mother Nature was just being ornery.

Mother Nature simply did not cooperate over the last three weeks. The cool, wet weather slowed down the gardening season, and now we have over 2,400 pepper transplants from this crop cycle ready for new homes.

Evers’ Country Gardens Mother’s Day Weekend: Oops… we grew too many red geraniums.

So we’re having a $1 sale on one geranium variety — Calliope Large Dark Red — Saturday and Sunday only. 🌺

We have Calliope Large Dark Red geraniums in 4 1/2 inch pots for just $1 each.

These will grow into big, bold, dark red geraniums — perfect for porch pots or patio containers, or a little “I was thinking of you” Mother’s Day color.

Evers’ Country Gardens now has Indian cuisine starter plants for your home garden.

This season we are excited to add several varieties either native to India or widely used in Indian cuisine, including Tinda Green Ball, Dosakkai cucumber, Puneri cucumber, Sambar cucumber, Kong Green bitter melon, Malabar spinach, Red Stemmed Gongura, and Ghost pepper.

Quantities are limited. This is our first season growing these for retail sale, and we are just learning how to grow these “special to us” varieties well. We hope to offer even more in the future.

Fresh off the forklift and officially tempting gardeners.

Indiana-grown onion sets and certified Minnesota-grown seed potatoes are now available at Evers’ Country Gardens.

We currently have onion sets in Red, White, Yellow Stuttgarter, Bottle Globe, and Sweet White, along with seed potatoes including Kennebec, Red Lasoda, Red Pontiac, Russet Burbank, and Yukon Gold.

Onion sets are $1.79 per pound, with Sweet White at $3.99 per pound. Seed potatoes are $5.45 per 5-pound bag.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to start the vegetable garden, this is probably it. Stop in soon and shop early for the best selection.

Daytime Help Wanted at Evers’ Country Gardens

We are currently seeking daytime help for the remainder of the 2026 spring season.

This position could be a very good fit for someone who is careful, dependable, detail-oriented, and takes pride in doing things well. Duties may include seeding, careful hand-watering, plant care, stocking, and helping customers.

This is an unusual opportunity for the right person. There is room for increasing responsibility, along with challenging and exciting opportunities for growth. For the perfect candidate, this position could eventually lead to entry-level grower learning and responsibilities.

This opening is for the rest of spring 2026, with the possibility for the right person to return in February 2027 and continue with us in future spring seasons.

We’re open for retail customer sales starting today at Evers’ Country Gardens! 🌿🌸

We’ve been pretty quiet on Facebook this winter and early spring, but only because we’ve been busy in the greenhouse getting ready for the season ahead. While we may not have had much to say online, there’s been plenty going on behind the scenes.

It’s still early in Ohio, so it’s not yet safe to plant most items outdoors. Spring likes to keep us humble around here. But for those who are ready for a little color, a little fresh greenhouse air, and a welcome glimpse of the season ahead, our doors are open.

Some folks come ready to shop. Others just want to walk through, look around, and enjoy that first real feeling of spring. Either way, we’re glad to see you again.
