We often get phone calls during the spring and summer about needing refrigerant or Freon added to customer’s air conditioners. If this is you, you may want to reconsider filling it up. It is similar to putting air in a tire that has a hole. If you don’t seal the leak where the tire has a hole it will keep leaking, similar to an air conditioner. When your system is leaking Freon it means there is a hole somewhere in your unit. Sometimes this is repairable and sometimes it isn’t, depending on where in the system it is leaking. If it is repairable it may not make financial sense to repair if it’s over expected life expectancy or not as energy efficient as a new system. 🚨Tip Tuesday🚨
Did you know burning candles can cause your filter to build up wax and soot fast causing your furnace to break down? If you burn candles regularly it is best to replace your filter more frequently. It is best to use soy and beeswax candles to avoid toxins, that some candles have, including paraffin and mixed waxed candles. These can be toxic for your indoor air quality.

See the filter and the way it’s bent? This is because the filter was being sucked up into the blower compartment. When this happens it means your furnace is working double time in order to circulate air with a dirty filter, which can cause a failure of your blower motor. It is important to check your filter and change it monthly! On our regular tune up visits we change all normal standard size filters while we visit and do a clean of your system to ensure your safety & health of your hvac system.

One way to avoid costly repairs is by replacing your hvac system’s filter monthly. Here are two suggestions to help you avoid forgetting:
1) Add a calendar reminder every month.
2) Write the date you installed the filter on the side of the filter with sharpie.
