If anyone local to Vernon, Beauregard or surrounding Parishes needs a tree service, I can highly recommend Chet at Standard.
If anybody had tree problems from the storm, or were scared you were going to have one fall on your house, Chet is the man to call.
He always gets to us fast, and I have seen him do amazing work, getting trees down next to houses.

Customized for Tammy Fruge Spell at 8’ wide, 12’ long, with a sloped metal roof and 1/2” hardware cloth. Her chickens will be cozy and safe for many years to come!

Arick really enjoys building coops and runs. It is slow work, because of his standards and the quality.
This special order run is coming along.

It is sturdy enough to have siding added and be transformed into a shed, should the homeowner decide that they’d like to!

It will definitely withstand Mother Nature, and the rest of time.

We are not only in the chicken coop business, we actually love having chickens and fresh eggs ourselves!

We have new additions to our chicken family, Black Copper Marans. They lay the darkest eggs in the brown egg realm. I have wanted them for years.

These came from a good bloodline, and I picked them up close to Ville Platte.

I had bought hatching eggs from a breeder in Lafayette (for a pretty penny, I might add), and my incubator malfunctioned and I lost them all, earlier this year. Then I had some health issues and took a break from homesteading. I was ready again today, and just decided to go with pullets and a cockerel.

I can’t wait until they start laying! My new project! We will be raising and breeding the BCM’s, and working on Olive Eggers, in the near future.

Arick is mortising out the joints for a chicken run this morning.

The mortised joint is a powerful form of joining two pieces of wood together. It has been used for centuries in all sorts of applications, from furniture construction to building bridges!

The best thing about this long-lasting system of joinery, is that it gets stronger as time goes by.

Sometimes, the old way is the best way.
