Starting at 18:30 (towards the end) of episode 506 of The Good Road tv there is a nice bit about the nursery and Kate and Fairman. The parts before are great too. Filmed before Helene, it is hard to comprehend the before and after! We are all fine, but still don't have an access road rebuilt to the nursery - hopefully we will be able to see you all in the spring.

Hello friends near and far. We are all well. Our road is shot and it will be a few more days before I can get us out. But the images of WNC that just hit with the restoration of internet makes us forget our relatively minor worries and hope and pray for all our regional neighbors.

As fall approaches we are starting to see the annual "Fall Color Forecasts" which can make us forget to look about as we go to and fro. Driving up the lane to the nursery is a case in point - sometimes we need to get out and walk to really see the early fall flowers finding respite from the drought in the shady streamside. But don't worry, the leaves will be pretty great too!

2) Pink Turtlehead - Chelone lyonii, and White Wood Aster

September 2, 2024 - As we contemplate Summer's transition to Fall, COLOR is what comes to mind - and pollinators! Yellow and orange Jewelweed are buzzing with bees and humming with hummingbirds. Angelica gigas (non-native) beckons bumblebees with its striking magenta flowers. But there is nothing quite as colorful as the purple of Ironweed - Vernonia noveboracensis and the vibrant yellow of Giant goldenrod - Solidago gigantea gracing the edges of roads and pastures throughout Sandy Mush. The bumblebees enjoy the goldenrod, and the spiders enjoy the bumblebees!

We will be bringing an exciting collection of plants to the Asheville Botanical Garden on Saturday Sept. 14. And to the NC Arboretum Plant Sale on Friday and Saturday Sept 27-28.

We are shipping plants across the country for fall planting and would love to send some to you!

Plan a visit to the Nursery - give us a call first as fall hours can change.

Put some COLOR in your garden and make the citters happy!
