One of the most inspiring moments from the Grandfather project. 🪨🌿

We came across a natural boulder with a mountain laurel growing right on top of it. You couldn’t design it any better than nature already has.

As landscape designers and builders, we do our best to mimic what Mother Nature does so well — blending stone, water, plants, and elevation changes into something that feels natural and timeless.

This boulder reminded us that some of the best design ideas are already out there in the mountains around us.

Just a glimpse of one of the focal points of this landscape and a reminder of why we’re inspired by these mountains every day.

Day four of the Grandfather project. 🪨

More stone moving, site cleanup, and hauling culvert materials into the jobsite as the project continues to take shape. With two machines working at a steady pace, the progress is really starting to show.

One of our favorite parts of the project so far has been walking across the rock bridges and seeing how naturally they fit into the creek bed. Features like these add both function and character to the landscape.

We’re thankful for the beautiful mountain weather, a hardworking crew, and another productive day on the project.

It’s all coming together.

End of day three walk through. 🪨

The progress is really starting to show. After multiple boulder deliveries and countless careful placements, the dry creek bed is getting stronger, more defined, and more natural with each passing day.

Notice how the boulders blend into the landscape rather than sitting on top of it. That’s intentional. Every stone is placed to look like it belongs.

The rock bridges are another favorite feature — creating sturdy crossing points while maintaining the natural flow and character of the creek bed.

A lot of work goes into making something look effortless.

Sunrise Sunday ☀️

Reflecting on an awesome week of hard work and taking time to appreciate the beauty around us.

This week, we’ve had the privilege of working in one of the most beautiful places imaginable, beneath Grandfather Mountain. Moments like these are a reminder of how incredible God’s creation is and how fortunate we are to spend our days outdoors building landscapes in such a special place.

We’re grateful for the progress made, the clients we serve, and the crew that makes it all possible.

Looking forward to another week of hard work, great progress, and time to reflect along the way.

Day three of the Grandfather project. 🪨

In this video, we’re sharing a mix of real-time footage and timelapse clips to show what it actually takes to move and place large boulders and stone slabs. Every piece is carefully selected, positioned, and adjusted to create a natural look that feels like it’s always belonged here.

Things are really starting to take shape, and we’re excited to see the vision come together. Also was so happy to have my son working alongside me!

Day 2: More boulder deliveries and another beautiful morning on the Grandfather project. 🪨

As the sun rose over Grandfather Mountain, it was hard not to pause for a minute and appreciate the awesome place we’re fortunate enough to work in. The mountains have a way of reminding you just how special our earth is.

Most of the material has now been moved into the backyard, and the project will start coming to life. Boulders, careful placement, and a lot of vision are about to come together.

This is where the transformation starts. 🎉

Official day one of the Grandfather project. 🪨

After the boulder deliveries, we were finally able to start moving material and bringing the vision to life. This project will feature natural stone, water management, and a design that feels right at home in the mountains of North Carolina.

Projects like this are why we love working in the mountains.

Boulder delivery day. 🪨

A little rain isn’t slowing us down. We’re continuing to haul in boulders for our newest mountain project and getting everything in place for the transformation ahead.

Every great boulder project starts with the right stone, and this one is shaping up to be something special.

Rain or shine, the work continues and we love it!

New project underway. 🪨🌧️

This pond and creek area was heavily damaged by Hurricane Helene, but we’re excited to help bring it back to life.

The plan: large boulders, slab steps, and a creek channel designed to function as a wet spring during rainy months and a dry creek bed the rest of the year. We’re going to create something that manages water naturally while looking like it has always belonged in the mountains.

Twelve minutes of moving stone, condensed into 1 minute and 30 seconds. 🪨

This project was completed a few weeks ago, but we wanted to take a moment to showcase the skill behind the work. Watch the ease and focus with which Tyler moves each boulder with the trackhoe — years of experience, patience, and practice make it look effortless.

Moving rock is one thing. Placing it exactly where it belongs is another.
