Last but certainly not least, meet Colin – Our Go-To Guy at B&B.

Colin Riley - Partner, B & B Home Improvement

Colin is truly a jack of all trades here at B&B. If he’s not hands-on with your current project, chances are he’s behind the scenes designing stunning digital plans for upcoming builds, coordinating with subcontractors, or connecting with clients to ensure everything stays on track.

A Sharpsburg, Iowa native, Colin was raised by his parents Marty and Brad alongside his siblings, Megan and Jake. Growing up on the farm, he learned the value of hard work early on—spending long days helping with chores and hauling hay with his dad. After high school, Colin took his dedication and discipline to the United States Air Force, where he served overseas for several years, both as active duty and later as a contractor.

Following his time abroad, Colin and his children decided it was time to be closer to family, relocating back to southwest Iowa in 2018. Two years later, he officially joined the family business—B&B Home Improvement—fulfilling a longtime dream of his father, Brad, to work alongside his sons. Today, Colin lives in Creston with his wife, Lisa, and their children: Mary, Harper, and Michael.

Since joining B&B, Colin has contributed to a wide range of projects, often bringing client visions to life through detailed digital renderings before the first hammer even swings. One of his favorite projects was a complete renovation of an older home in Lenox, where the transformation was truly remarkable. Still, Colin finds satisfaction in every project—big, small, or somewhere in between.
What Colin loves most about his work at B&B is the variety—no two projects are the same—and the opportunity to ensure each client receives top-quality craftsmanship and care every step of the way.

Jacob Riley - Partner since 2006

Jacob or Jake Riley grew up in SW Iowa on his family's small acreage. As a child he loved helping his father bale hay in the summers and exploring the countryside.

Upon graduating high school he attended college in Minnesota and after graduating returned to SW Iowa to work alongside his father. What was supposed to be only a year off before law school turned into a 19 year passion for building.

During his career as a contractor he has done everything from a simple door k**b replacement to entire home remodels. The challenges of working with existing homes make everyday a chance to solve the puzzle. Unique solutions to these challenges are one of his favorite aspects of the work. By using the motto his father taught him of "Only do something you would do to your own home" he has helped multiple families across the region fulfill their dreams for their homes. 16 years of working side by side with his father taught him everything he knows about more than just contracting.

His downtime is focused on spending time with his wife and 2 stepsons. Also being the jungle gym for his beautiful puppers, Buffy.

Over the next few days, we’re excited to introduce you to the team behind B&B Home Improvement and share a bit more about who we are.

First up, Brad Riley - Founder of B&B Home Improvement

Brad was a man of many talents—a true jack of all trades who lived life with purpose and passion. His journey was as diverse as it was inspiring: from winning a state football championship in high school, to taking on the challenges of farming in the early 1980s, to dedicating 25 years to a career in education. Later, he partnered with his son-in-law, Brady, to launch B & B Home Improvement, blending his love for building with his entrepreneurial spirit.
Brad was well-known and well-loved for his tireless work ethic, sharp wit, deep loyalty to the Kansas City Chiefs, and a personality that was equal parts endearing and ornery. He was always building—whether it was homes, relationships, or a legacy that would last beyond his years.
Even before the official founding of B & B, Brad was immersed in the world of construction and remodeling. During his time in Creston in the 1970s, he cut his teeth on roofing jobs, deck builds, and countless other projects that laid the foundation for his future work.
A true craftsman, Brad demanded excellence from himself and instilled the same high standards in his sons, Colin and Jake. He passed on to them not only his skills but also his love for carpentry and his commitment to quality. Since Brad’s passing in 2022, Colin and Jake have carried forward his legacy—devoted to delivering exceptional craftsmanship, using only the best materials, and treating every project, big or small, with the care and pride that defined Brad’s life and work.

When one of our repeat customers came to us needing new front steps, we had a bigger vision—more space to welcome guests and a shady spot to enjoy the outdoors, rain or shine.

We brought that vision to life with a solid 14' x 12' custom-built deck, topped with a powder-coated aluminum pergola featuring stylish decorative corner details.

Now she’s all set to relax in the summer sun, take in her blooming garden, and make the most of the fresh air—just in time for the season!

Spring is here, and this Lenox home just got a major front yard glow-up!

We installed Thermo Tech triple-pane windows, a Waudena fiberglass entry door with a Larson storm door, and added color-matched shutters to tie the whole look together—instantly boosting curb appeal.

We also built a 10’ x 23’ MoistureShield composite front deck with a 10’ x 13’ aluminum pergola, finished off with a powder-coated white aluminum railing system for a clean, welcoming entrance.

Their business started with their Dad Brad (rip) . Colin and Jake have called Lenox IA their business base but with Colin calling Creston home now- lets send these guys our business.

One of our biggest transformations to date!

This 1999 manufactured home went from basic to stunning with new windows, doors, roof, siding, covered front porch and custom designed back deck with built in seating.
