We have heard the horror stories. A contractor takes a 50% deposit and disappears for two months. This is unacceptable. We built Delaware Home Improvements on a foundation of professional systems.

Our progressive payment structure ensures that you only pay for work that has been completed. It aligns our goals with yours. We want you to feel secure from the first check to the final walkthrough.

Have you ever had a bad experience with a contractor deposit? Let’s discuss in the comments

Most screen porches are built the standard way.
This one was built around how the homeowners actually live.

Instead of basic aluminium posts, we went with custom 6x6 wrapped columns to give the space a more finished, high-end look.

Even the gable was redesigned to keep the space feeling as open and seamless as possible.

Now the homeowners spend their mornings out here drinking coffee, watching birds, and enjoying the backyard in a way they never could before.

That’s the difference between adding a structure and creating a space people genuinely love using every day.

A lot of the difference in quality comes from the things homeowners don’t notice right away.

Protected floors with ram board.
Dust barriers separating the workspace from the finished areas.
Magnetic entry systems that make moving materials easier without damaging the home.

And when it comes to finish work like shiplap, everything is planned down to the seam placement so once the beam goes in, the entire ceiling has one clean seamless look.

The final result matters.
But how the project is handled along the way matters too.

Good enough is usually where future problems start.

Most people won’t notice the small imperfections right away:
crooked seams, bad prep work, uneven finishes, nail pops…

But over time?
You will.

That’s why we take the extra time to go through every wall, every detail, and every finish before calling a project complete.

Because quality work isn’t just about how it looks on day one it’s about how it holds up years later.

A lot of homeowners don’t realize poor workmanship until a few seasons later. This homeowner came to us after another contractor overpromised and underdelivered.

Exposed materials.
Improper gutter work.
Details left unfinished.
Things that might look okay at first but create problems over time.

The difference with quality construction is usually in the details most people never notice:
✔️ Proper structural support
✔️ Materials protected from the elements
✔️ Seamless drainage systems
✔️ Clean finishing work done the right way

Anyone can make something look finished.
Not everyone builds it to last.

Most people only notice the finished look.
We pay attention to the details that make it look finished.

From the nickel gap shiplap and crown detail to the nail placement and wall prep everything matters.

A lot of builders stop at “good enough.”
We go through the house multiple times fixing nail pops, scratches, seams, and small imperfections most people would miss.

Because the difference between average work and high-end work is usually in the little things.

A lot of people outgrow their house before they actually need a new one.

Instead of moving, sometimes adding the right space changes everything. 4-season rooms, mother-in-law suites, bigger entertaining areas it’s all about making the home fit your life better.

And when the addition is designed correctly, it doesn’t feel “added on. It feels like it was always part of the house.

Most new construction in coastal Delaware follows a specific formula. It is designed for efficiency and rapid turnover. While the upstairs looks finished, the bones of your home often reflect that production mindset.

When you decide to finish your basement, applying that same high-speed approach is a mistake. You are not just adding a room. You are completing the foundation of your legacy home. Choosing a volume contractor often results in 24 inch on center framing and basic finishes that will not stand the test of time.

At Delaware Home Improvements, we reverse that trend. We use 16 inch on center framing and a glue and screw drywall method. It takes longer and costs more in materials, but it ensures your walls stay straight and your investment stays solid.
