Some of our latest endeavors. We have a basic face lift for a office/laundry room. Just a little trim,paint and water proof vinyl floating floor. Then we have a complete bathroom remodel and finally, and probably my favorite we're working on an outdoor cooking/ entertaining area, under roof of course. That's gonna be nice. I'll definitely bring pics of the final product when we're done. Anyway, hadn't posted anything in a while so I wanted to show everyone out there the range of projects we will take on. Had the pleasure of doing some tile floors for some friends, Danny and Rhonda, and am pleased to say they came out pretty dang sharp. The kitchen /dining/living rooms were done in warm grey 1x2 tiles laid in the Herron bone pattern. The laundry room followed suit but in the more traditional subway pattern and the bathroom switched it up, staying grey but giving some texture to the the tile face. A cool look with the added bonus of being more non-slip. Overall, happy with the results and looking forward to installing some butcher block counter tops and perhaps some accent tile backsplashes. Danny and Rhonda are owners of lexingtons Twisted Roots bar and grill and 2 top notch people. Is my continued pleasure to refine and improve their home. Have pics of those tops up in the near future

So this new homeowner needed cabinet space. Well she got cabinet space. Really happy with how this large scale addition of mostly stick built, on site, cabinet additions came out. From tear out, to install, to tying it all back in with crown molding, to paint, to hardware. This entire kitchen remodel was handled by just us. One of our strongest abilities and features at McKinnon specialties is the vast majority of the time your search for skilled tradesman stops with us. We can handle light electrical, light plumbing, drywall, painting etc...we've been doing it all for 27 years so we can handle all the nuances that are necessary when doing a project. It's nice for the homeowner to have one responsible party to come to with any issue or question.

A simple accent wall can really jazz up any space in your home. This is a boys room. Mom saw a magazine layout with this wall and ask if we could do something similar. Of course the answer was absolutely, when do you want to start? 3 days later we had brought the magazine layout to her home. Simple, inexpensive but amazing impact. This is an example of what I mean when I tell folks if they can invision an improvement we can make that vision a reality. Simple screen in of existing porch. Larger than typical spaces required the screen to be uber tight. Not a problem, working within the confines of existing framing is just part of the job. We won't leave a structural issue unresolved but we certainly have learned how to do things as uninvasively as possible.

Water damage repair/ floor replacement. Shandon houses always present their own set of challenges however these old houses, like their contemporaries, in the Avenue's of west Columbia, are built right. Easy to feel a sense of responsibility to continue top notch building practices when you dig in to one of these elder structures. I try my best to uphold their form and character with work I hope to still be in tact in 70 years. Legacy, the word has more meaning to me with each passing day, month and year # built to last.
