💙 More Than Just Paint: Family & Awareness 💙
At Colatown Painting, we treat every home like it’s our own—because to us, family is everything. Today, I’m using our platform to share a story about my nephew, Elliott.

Elliott lives with Homocystinuria (HCU), a rare metabolic condition. Watching him navigate life with such resilience—and a very strict low-protein diet—makes me incredibly proud to be his uncle.

A Story of Resilience
When Elliott was only 2 years old, our family almost lost him. His HCU was missed during newborn screening, leading to a medical emergency that left him in a coma. We are forever grateful to Dr. Schroer at Greenwood Genetics and the incredible team at Prisma Children's Hospital for their life-saving intervention.

May 18th is World Homocystinuria Awareness Day. I’m sharing this because no family’s health should depend on "luck." We need:

More accurate newborn screenings.

Support for the specialists who save lives.

Funding for research to find a cure.

We’ve all been there—the May sun finally hits the front porch, and suddenly you notice that the trim looks a little more "shabby" than "chic". With graduation parties and family visits right around the corner, we’re all looking at our spaces with fresh eyes.

Update: We have a winner! 🏆

The votes are in, and the neighborhood consensus was (drumroll, please): Keep the brick natural! 🧱

Our homeowner loved reading through the debate. While there was a lot of love for the "painted" look (and we totally agree it can look amazing!), they’ve decided to stick with the classic brick and let a new trim and shutter color do the heavy lifting - possibly painting next time around.

A big shoutout to everyone who participated—whether you’re Team Paint or Team Natural, your input made this such a fun and helpful discussion!
