Odin, Loki, and Freyja enjoyed the heat and sun last week (they love hanging out in the nursery), but unlike me, they did not appreciate all this recent rain. Thankfully the rain brought in slightly cooler weather and softer soils. These milder temps make it a great time for planting as it reduces stress on new transplants. This will be a great weekend to be out in the yard planting some new natives!

Hopkins Green was where we had our first sale, fall of 2024, and it’s a sale I look forward to twice a year. Thank you, Lexington— and beyond!— for stopping by and supporting us! A special thanks to our pals at VNPS, , and Friends of Brushy Hills for joining us to make it a real community event. While in-person sales won’t occur quite as frequently over the summer, we do have a few lined up, so stay tuned. In the meantime, our online store is open for local pickup, and we still have lots of new plants that will be ready in the coming weeks. Thanks again for making this a wonderful spring season! 🌱

Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful moms out there! Root 11 simply wouldn’t be what it is without my own mom, whose love and support are immeasurable. There are so many ups and downs in owning a business AND growing plants, and I’m so grateful to have her cheering me on through all of it. ❤️❤️

There’s something so satisfying about seeing native plants in the wild. I mean, it’s great to see them in peoples’ yards, but it just hits different to run into them while out hiking. I hope everyone is getting the chance to get outside with this nice weather and see some of our beautiful native plants in action!

1. Azure Bluet (Houstonia caerulea)
2. Tradescantia virginiana (Virginia Spiderwort)
3. Wild Yam (Dioscorea villosa)
4. Moss Phlox (Phlox subulata)
5. A very tired Freyja ❤️

Meet Joe! Joe is a big reason that Root 11 exists— he came up with the name! He is also an incredibly supportive husband that helps me to put on sales, move plants and supplies, meet folks for pickups, and so much more. Without Joe, Root 11 would not be what it is today. Thanks, Joe!
