Highland-Turner Elementary Earns Prestigious Rank as #9 in State for Academic Excellence
In a significant achievement for the Highland-Turner Elementary School community, the school has been ranked as the #9 elementary school in Kentucky based on its performance in the recent Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA). This marks the second consecutive year the school has received the prestigious "blue school" designation, which is awarded to institutions demonstrating exceptional academic achievement.
The Kentucky Summative Assessment is a comprehensive, statewide evaluation that measures student performance across various subjects, including English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. The "blue school" label is the highest designation granted by the Kentucky Department of Education, reserved for schools that consistently demonstrate outstanding academic growth and achievement, placing them among the top performers in the state.
“We are incredibly proud of this recognition,” said Principal Jeff Honeycutt, who has led the school for the past two years. “This achievement is a direct reflection of the hard work and dedication of our students, staff, and the entire Highland-Turner community. It’s a team effort, and we are so thankful for the continued support of our families and local leaders.”
For now, Highland-Turner Elementary is celebrating another remarkable year of academic achievement, and its staff is already setting their sights on continuing to build upon this success in the years to come.
“We know there’s always room to grow,” said Principal Honeycutt. “But for now, we’re going to take a moment to celebrate this amazing accomplishment. It’s a reflection of all the hard work that’s been put in—and we’re excited to keep moving forward.”
As Highland-Turner Elementary looks to the future, the school remains committed to providing an enriching, high-quality education for its students, ensuring that they are not only prepared for future academic challenges but are also empowered to become successful, lifelong learners.
