Restock on native coneflowers! We have Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea), Pale Purple Coneflower (Echinacea pallida), and Ozark Coneflower (Echinacea paradoxa - a Missouri native). They're still small, but some are ready to bloom. We also have some other pollinator magnets: Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) and Jeana Phlox (Phlox paniculata 'Jeana'). These are ALL outstanding plants for pollinators! All in 4" pots $12.50, or the Swamp Milkweed is also available in gallon pots for $20.

Just a reminder that it's time right now to Chelsea chop a lot of your annuals and perennials that may need it. If you've never done it, it's simply cutting back your flowering plants that tend to get taller and leggier than you'd like, usually by 1/3 or 1/2. It won't harm the plants, and it will encourage them to grow shorter, fuller, and produce more flowers. Make sure you google the plants you're considering cutting, to make sure they are among the many species that respond well to the chop. Some that respond especially well are Asters, Joe Pye, Coneflowers, Helenium, Nepeta/Catmint, Agastache, Boltonia, Ironweed, Monarda, Rudbeckia, Goldenrod, Garden Phlox, and many more.

This is a brand new one for us: native Ozark Coneflowers (Echinacea paradoxa). They are not native to Kentucky, but are "neighborly natives" as they are native to a few pockets of Missouri. They are the world's only known straight native yellow coneflower, and we're very happy to have them available now. They're highly disease resistant and pest resistant, non-invasive, and of course they're good for pollinators! They're young but have nice, healthy roots. 4" pots $12.50
We have also just restocked Purple Coneflowers and Pale Purple Coneflowers in 4".

The wonderful people at Seedleaf stopped by our greenhouses the other day and our charming Rusty decided to hop in their truck for a nap and a short joyride.
