This is 2 years old but I just found it researching "more info" for a seed sharing project I'm working on. This is a problem all of us can work on solving! It's fun! It's easy! (Ok, maybe not easy, but sometimes it's just nice to have an activity that feels pro-active rather than re-active).
My approach this year: gather native seeds wherever, whenever. You really cannot have too many native seeds, though maybe limit the amount of goldenrod you mix in just because it tends to overshadow the other stuff without even trying. Keep the really tall ones separated, but otherwise mix freely. Put them in paper bags. Write "Chaos" or "chaos tall" and the year on the bags. Let them dry. Then crush and pull out the big stems. Mix well. Put in envelopes. Label. Share!
When a wildfire burns through a landscape, land managers want to replant with the local species that create healthy habitats. But often they can’t—and climate change is exacerbating the problem
