May Storms Prep & Risk Mitigation.

As the heavy May rains saturate the Atlanta soil, even the most stable-looking trees can become a sudden liability. This month's wet, heavy foliage combined with softened ground significantly increases the risk of root failure and severe limb breakage. Our team specializes in proactive risk mitigation, identifying weakened branches and unstable trunks before they can cause costly damage to your fences, roofs, and power lines. Don't wait for a spring downpour to compromise your home’s security—taking action now keeps your property protected.

✅ PROPER TREE PLACEMENT (THE "DO'S" - LEFT SIDE)
The left side highlights safe distances and size considerations for planting trees:
* Under Power Lines: Trees planted directly beneath power lines should have a mature height of 25' maximum. This prevents the trees from growing into the lines which can cause power outages and safety hazards.
* Distance from Structures (Houses/Buildings): Trees should be planted 10' away from any structure. This is crucial because tree roots can grow substantial distances and potentially damage foundations walls or underground pipes.
* Distance from Property Lines: Trees should be planted 5' away from the property line. This helps avoid disputes with neighbors and prevents branches or roots from becoming an issue on their property.
* Distance from Pavement/Sidewalks: Trees need to be planted 2' away from pavement. This allows enough space for the trunk to grow and prevents surface roots from growing underneath the pavement which can cause cracking and heaving.

❌ IMPROPER TREE PLACEMENT (THE "DON'TS" - RIGHT SIDE)
The right side shows the consequences of poor placement:
* Power Line Interference: Planting large trees directly under lines results in the tree height interfering with power lines necessitating trimming or removal by the utility company.
* Damage to Structures: Planting too close to a house means the roots may damage the structure's foundation as the tree matures.
* Property Line/Fence Issues: Planting on or too close to a boundary can lead to interference with fences and potential disagreements hence the instruction to avoid property lines and fences.
* Pavement Damage: Planting too close to pavement (sidewalks driveways) leads to roots eventually lifting cracking or damaging the paved surface.
