Well here we go again, another day in tornado alley 2.0. Keeps getting scarier. New obstacles present new challenges, and how we band together to help each other overcome them is what defines a strong community, makes it a good place to live, raise our children, retire at, and grow old in. If disaster strikes close to home and overcoming these new challenges requires help from those around you- There is a certain amount of trust that you have to extend to people that are there to help you. Unfortunately, this world has a lot of vultures and scammers with no morals that prey on victims of unfortunate circumstances and capitalize on trust that they shouldn't have. When you find yourself living in an area that consistently falls victim to dangerous weather, the number of these predatory scammers around you increases astronomically due to disaster relief funds and insurance supplementation checks being granted to repair our precious community. All of a sudden there are strangers knocking on your door, calling your phone, leaving messages and literature, claiming to be the best, most trusted, lowest priced, dependable company that is here to help you. The worst part about this is when you absolutely NEED, no question about it, NEED what they are ALL claiming to be professionals at providing.
Now which one do you call?
You hear a lot of good hometown people say, keep it local.
Keep it local.
Why is this important? Why does it truly matter where this professional lives, or is from, as long as they know what to do, can get your damage fixed, your investment protected and made whole again? One big reason is because when a person is out for their interests only and are prepared to con victims they generally won't do it in areas where they live, so that they have somewhere to run and hide when the gig is up and you realize that they are ripping you off. Or they have already ripped people off around where they live, the word is out, so now they have to leave town to get any business praying that you haven't heard their track record. They'll even say, "We ARE local, I'm from just outside of Linton" Or "my wife's cousin's boyfriend's best friend's dog's babysitter was raised over by Dugger". Then you'll look outside at their vehicle, or business card, and their phone number will be (317)-765-00XX or (765)-511-XX00 or even worse (531) 915-1X0X- obviously not a number from around here. These people are NOT local contractors, and they are already lying to establish a relationship with you based upon deceit to win your business.
Beware of them!
Why? The average cost of a roof today is around $20,000.00. To retain services from most respectable contractors today, you normally have to make a deposit of the material costs and half of the labor costs. This averages to be between 50-75% of the total job cost. Therefore you have to trust this stranger with $10,000-$15,000 up front and pray that they actually show up, and get the job done right. Scary, and for a lot of unfortunate victims, it ends there. Or let's say they seem to know the ropes, and they even complete the repairs. Then someone points out that there are errors in the installation, or it starts falling apart almost immediately, or the first winter snow melts and you got to run out and grab buckets to catch the spills from all of the water leaking in. It is nearly impossible to get them to come back to Greene County to make it right and fix it. That is NEVER a profitable situation for them and is RARELY done. Easier for them to hide behind the distance. You'll get 3+ months of excuses from them until you get pi**ed and hire a local guy to fix it.
A local guy.
That local guy that you chose not to hire because his truck wasn't as fancy as the pro from Indy, or because they flipped off aunt Milly in the WalMart parking lot when she cut him off last December, or because he can't spell nuthin. He's got to do the dirty work for as cheap as possible (because now the funding is gone), fix the screw ups of the guy before him that shouldn't have been trusted and messed it up, all while the other guy keeps your $20,000.00.
I was born and raised here in Linton. I care about my customers, their needs, and my reputation as a contractor. I have been in this business for 30+ years, and I know what I'm doing. I guarantee a quality service, even if I have to grab my tools and do every bit of it myself in order to provide it. And I'm going to be here afterwards to follow up with you and doing everything in my power to make sure that your needs are met. And you WILL receive the services that you trusted me to provide and the comfort that you are needing. All with quality workmanship, professional etiquette, warranty, and an endless number of references.
I am skilled in insurance claims and supplementation. This process is written to confuse even the smartest, most educated people. Because if you don't know how the process works, and don't claim your funds at the right time, the insurance company gets to keep them. We all know what insurance companies do to our premiums if we are calling in claims every time the wind blows hard. They'll raise it so high that you'll be mortgaging your house to insure it or have to risk not having it while living in tornado alley. So most of the time it is not smart to make an insurance claim. Predators will NOT tell you that. Their goal is to get as many people to make insurance claims as possible, not caring if your claim is denied or refused. Because if you can get enough, the profit is in the numbers. Discard the denials. To me, that is absolutely embarrassing to be told that you don't have enough damage for compensation after you've made a claim. In a way it's like them calling you a liar and accusing you of trying to take advantage of an unfortunate situation. Which is exactly what these predators are out to do.
I'm more apt to tell you what options that you have that will help you avoid making claims. What can be patched, how long it will likely hold up, and what resources are available to help us accomplish these tasks. I provide these resources and I am there to implement them at a professional level from start to finish. Backed by warranty.
And if you do need to make a claim, I am here to advocate for you throughout the adjustment process to make sure they hold up to their end of the bargain and get you the absolute most possible supplementation to ensure all of your needs are met. The other guys will stop assisting once the roof is covered and leave you with the bag on the rest of it.
Don't be fooled by predatory contractors. I cannot stress this enough: KEEP IT LOCAL.
HIRE LOCALLY!
Otherwise, you could be setting yourself up to lose everything that you've worked so hard to gain.
Stay safe folks! Call or text if you need us... we'll be here.
