Finishing up a very pleasing siding experience in which every side was stripped (30 hours) and restained (10 hours). The time and energy spent on prepping a project is where the magic is found.

This stain removal process using an environmentally-friendly chemical stripper gets rid of fading that occurs when part of the siding gets more sun. Fading is a common problem that can be avoided by staining siding every few years before signs of fading start to occur. Alternatives to stripping include staining over the existing stain (you’ll still see the imperfections), hand sanding with a belt sander (exhausting), or corn cob blasting (I haven’t tried this yet).

This cedar deck received some new planks, sanding, and a semi-transparent stain. The ceiling had some water spots that were covered with a solid stain. The owners will be adding a new steel railing soon.
