Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Weiss.
Hi Diana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
At Design to goTx.com we believe a home should feel like more than just walls and a roof. It should tell your story, support your family, and become a place you’re proud to come home to every day.
What started as a passion for building and remodeling grew into a mission: helping Texas homeowners transform ordinary spaces into something beautiful, functional and lasting.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In the 1980’s, being a woman in construction meant stepping into a world where many people believed you simply did not belong there. Construction sites were overwhelmingly male, and women who entered the industry often faced skepticism the moment they walked onto a jobsite. Many were mistaken for secretaries, assistants, or homeowners rather than skilled tradespeople, supervisors, or business owners.
For women in construction during the 80’s respect was rarely given freely. It had to be earned every single day. A woman often had to work twice as hard to prove she could read blueprints, operate equipment, manage crews, or understand structural details. Mistakes were remembered longer, while accomplishments were sometimes over looked.
There was also the emotional challenge of constantly navigating attitudes and assumptions. Some women faced open hostility , crude jokes, or doubts about their abilities.
Yet despite those challenges, Diana stayed. When you do what you love ; work is not work but a passion. Creating something from nothing and watching it transform into something is everything.
Today, the construction industry still has challenges, Those of us in the 80’s laid the foundation for progress. Our persistence, resilience, and determination changed the culture of construction one jobsite at a time.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Design to go Tx we are most proud of creating spaces that truly change the way families live in their homes. What began as a passion for design and construction has grown into a trusted Texas remodeling and roofing company built on craftsmanship, honesty, and vision.

Our specialties are roofing, kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, outdoor living spaces, and full home transformations. We love taking outdated, worn, or underused spaces and turning them into beautiful, functional environments that feel modern, welcoming, and built to last. One of the things that sets Design to go TX apart is our ability to combine real construction knowledge with creative design. We do not just build projects– we help homeowners visualize possibilities they may not have seen before.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I’d focus less on finding a “perfect guru” and more on finding people who are already strong in the exact areas you want to grow into. The best mentors usually still remember the messy middle — pricing jobs, difficult clients, cash flow stress, marketing confusion, burnout, balancing family and business
