First Black Female-Owned Alarm System and Surveillance Company in Arkansas
Dawn Powell, a Little Rock native, graduate of North Little Rock High School, and Philander Smith College, is the first African American woman to own an alarm company in the state of Arkansas. She is the founder and CEO of The Intuitive Pros Security Services. Although there are Black female technicians and sales agents, Ms. Powell is the first “owner.”
In 2011, Dawn began her journey in the security industry as a residential sales agent in the corporate sector of a nationally known alarm company. After seven years, she left this corporation and began a partnership with a local security dealer. During this time, Dawn was inspired to obtain the additional required certifications and license to start her own company.
Dawn Powell created her company with values of transparency, integrity, personalized service, and proficiency. Through The Intuitive Pros, she provides the type of service that she would want other businesses to provide to her parents.
She extends personal service to her clients, and enjoys educating them about security so that they can make an informed decision on choosing a compatible security provider to meet their needs, even if the services are not with her.
Because of the care she has shown her clients over the years, they continue to call upon her expertise to assist them with security questions, as well as sharing referrals.
In Dawn’s words, “I’m here to assist, educate, and increase the consumer’s understanding and knowledge about the security options available to them.
I want to arm every person I meet with the information, questions, and concerns they need to cover when speaking with another security professional to insure that their needs are met.”
Dawn works to build a personalized security solution that fits her clients’ wants, needs, and budget; her desire is to provide first class service, and create lifelong relationships.
Dawn has a special compassion for the retired and elderly; she cited, “I don’t want any potential client to have to decide between meals and securing their home.” In the corporate world, her hands were tied, but now, owning her own company she can make special accommodations for special situations.
Not only does The Intuitive Pros Security Services provide security for homes, businesses, and office spaces, they also offer services to tenants.
Dawn has and still does receive glowing praises for her work. Some of the qualities that set her services apart from others include personalized service: she shows up whenever she is needed, she always answers the phone/questions, there are no consultation fees, no 800 number or automated calls, and she builds professional relationships with her clients.
Dawn, throughout her career in security, has assisted in protecting thousands of families in central Arkansas and seeks to provide her services to those in need.
