Accumulations of snow and drifting can cause serious problems. Remember to check any exterior vent pipes (HVAC, water heater, or dryer vents) on your home. Blocked vents can potentially lead to carbon monoxide buildup.

It’s that time of year again! Just a friendly reminder from us at Ricks’s Refrigeration.

Have you checked your furnace within the last few months or even years? If you answered no to this you should be checking your furnace very soon! This picture shows a dirty filter (left) compared to a clean filter (right), your filter should be changed at least every 6 months if not more depending on if you have pets or track in a lot of dirt. Changing your filter will pro-long your furnaces life and help keep it running strong, efficiently, and it helps keep your air cleaner by catching dust particles. You can purchase filters from your local ace, or we have all different sized filters here at our shop. If you need any help changing your filter or servicing your furnace please give us a call at 406-222-6774.

It's important to keep your home's furnace exhaust vent and intake free of snow to avoid any safety risks. This will help ensure that your furnace operates safely, especially with the upcoming snowstorms and expected drop in temperatures. If your home has a high-efficiency furnace with side-wall exhausts and intakes, you can check if it has PVC pipes protruding from the side near your furnace. If these pipes get blocked by snowdrifts, it can cause your furnace to shut down and result in carbon monoxide building up in your home. To prevent this, check outside your home for any snow blocking these pipes and remove the blockage, or give us a call to check it out for you.
