I'd like to take a moment to recognize and honor a true original in the garage door industry.

A couple weeks ago, we lost Mike Rashid of Rashid Garage Doors — a man who helped shape this trade through years of hard work, dedication, and leadership.

Mike was the kind of person who didn’t just work in the industry… he helped build it. The knowledge he shared, the relationships he built, and the standard he set will continue to carry on through the many people he impacted along the way.

Those who had the privilege of sitting with Mike and hearing his stories know exactly what made him special. There was always something to learn, always something to take with you.

I can’t say I’ll miss his smoke-filled office… but I will absolutely miss the man I got to know over the years.

In our line of work, respect is earned — and Mike earned it.

At Altech Doors, we have a deep appreciation for those who paved the way and set the bar for what this industry should be. Mike was one of those people.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and everyone in the door community who had the privilege of knowing him.

Big shoutout to our Altech Doors team this past Saturday 👏🔧

We kicked off our first “Foundations of a Top Technician” skills training session at the Altech Academy… and it was everything I hoped it would be & more.

We started the morning with some breakfast (because let’s be honest—great training runs better on full stomachs 🍳☕), then rolled into a hands-on session focused on what it really takes to be a top tech—not just in skill, but in mindset.

What stood out most? The team defined it themselves.

When asked what makes a great technician, they didn’t hesitate:

👉 Integrity
👉 Communication
👉 Accountability
👉 Knowledge
👉 Hard Work
👉 Productivity
👉 Efficiency
👉 Punctuality

That’s the standard. That’s the culture we’re building.
