Ron’s back to studying for the home inspectors test. In the mean time, we are still doing jobs for our community members. Hit us up with your maintenance and odd job needs. We look forward to hearing from you.

We had the pleasure of working on a lake house just north of Monticello. They wanted us to custom build new doors for their garage, as well as move a screen door from the side of their screened-in porch to the front middle. Both projects turned out nicely and the homeowners were pleased.

Hello neighbors! We have not posted in a few months, but we have not forgotten about you. We are undergoing some changes in the family, as well as changing up some of our business. We have become foster parents and will also be adopting eventually. This requires more of my time, so Ron is doing most of the work himself. We have two large jobs we are finishing up this spring, afterwards we will only be doing small handyman type jobs. We will also be creating our new business, Fross Home Inspections, LLC. Look for more updates on our businesses, and please call or text with any questions or job requests. We’ll be happy to hear from you.

From our family to yours, we wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Hello neighbors! It’s been a hot minute since our last post, so we thought we’d share with you a job Ron accomplished today.
This was a small well house in disrepair; it was falling apart, wet, no insulation, and the water spigot was leaky. He replaced the spigot with a new no-freeze spigot. He framed a new house, insulated and wrapped it, installed siding, and placed a new metal roof on top. I think it turned out great! Now the owner can leave the water turned on without fear of it freezing.

We didn’t win either award for the Logansport Scarecrow Row competition, but we sure had fun with the process. We are happy to say that our favorite Cass County Animal Shelter did win, and both the People’s Choice and the Judge’s Choice. Thanks to those who took the time to vote.

It's been a while since we’ve posted about our projects. I’ve been out of commission for the past three weeks, but Ron’s still been busy at it. We enlisted the help of a fantastic drywaller and finisher to help keep moving things along, and let’s face it, a much more experienced and talented finisher than I. It turns out that he recognized the house as one he did the initial drywall and finishing for back in the 80s. Who better to work on this project? Thanks for fitting us in, Ralph!

The white carpet with the scorch mark started us on a pretty neat project. The homeowners called to see if we could cut it out and patch it, or if the floors were good enough under, maybe refinishing the floors. We could do it either way, and they chose to refinish. Their home is a beautifully built pre- 20th century. They have taken such good care of the place, and redid so much of the woodwork already. Like me, they are a fan of the old and used, the pieces, and marks, and scars tell the story of this perfectly imperfect home.

Those are eight inch oak baseboards you see in the pic that the homeowner refinished. This home was built to last, and so obviously loved. It was a joy to work on this and a few other small projects for them.

Our current project is a remodel of an 80s era kitchen. It has a boxed fluorescent light that is going away, and an island arrangement that has the kitchen feeling small and cramped. To remedy the situation, we are getting rid of a cabinet mounted oven/convection microwave combo beside a double pantry. This opens the space up and allows for better flow.

Don’t worry, we aren’t leaving them without a pantry. We stole some space from a laundry room closet to create a new pantry. Of course, we blew out the wall to discover duct work, but we worked with the owners to come up with a solution. We are making some big changes that will transform this kitchen.
