Arctic air is headed our way the week of January 20, 2025, and according to US National Weather Service Peachtree City Georgia, the forecast HIGH temperatures will be between 20 and 30 degrees between Monday and Wednesday.
Prepare now for the incoming cold, especially thinking about the 4 “P’s”: People, Pets, Pipes, Plants.
Focusing on pipes for this post, there are a few steps you can take to help prevent your pipes from freezing:
🔹Drip both hot and cold water (or lukewarm water if you only have one faucet k**b) in all sinks
🔹Leave cabinets under sinks open to let warm air circulate around the pipes. However, if you have small children, remove any chemicals from under the sink and place them out of reach.
🔹Set the thermostat on a warmer temperature, but at least to 55 degrees
🔹Insulate any exposed pipes and outdoor faucets
🔹Disconnect garden hoses and make sure outdoor faucets are drained
🔹Familiarize yourself with shut off valves in case of emergency
🔹If you’re going out of town, ask a trusted friend or neighbor to check on your home
Do not wait to prepare your pipes…be ready before the below freezing temps get here. Stay warm & safe, Covington. 💧💧💧
