DuPage residents can drop off unwanted or unusable paint for free at 29 locations throughout the County. The State of Illinois has partnered with the nonprofit PaintCare to administer the service, which is funded by a state fee on new paint sales through Illinois Paint Stewardship program, launched December 1st. Residents can drop off up to 5 gallons per visit. A list of acceptable items and drop-off locations can be found at dupagecounty.gov/recycling Many locations are hardware stores or paint retailers.

Information:
Limit: 5 gallons per visit. This site accepts latex and oil-based house paint, stains and varnish in containers up to 5 gallons in size. This site does not accept aerosols (spray paint or other spray products), containers without original labels, or containers that are leaking or empty.
