Don’t skip the designer, your project will feel like something is missing.
Bringing your home to life is an art.

I hear it all the time: “We’re going to skip the designer to save money.” I understand it — and after more than 25 years, I can tell you it’s the most expensive savings in a remodel.

Before you go without one, run these three checks:

**1. Walk the layout.** Not on paper — in real life. Work aisles, walkways, door swings, drawer swings, appliance swings. On a drawing everything fits. In your kitchen, a dishwasher door can block the whole walkway.

**2. Get a second set of eyes on selections before you order.** A range hood that’s too small doesn’t just look wrong — it affects air quality and grease capture. Once it’s ordered, it’s yours.

**3. Compare the bid to the plan, line by line.** Roll-outs drawn on the plan but missing from the bid aren’t a saving. They’re a surprise, later, at full price.

This is exactly what a work session with a designer is for — one focused consult where we walk your plan, your selections, and your bid together, and catch the things that cost real money later. I almost always find several.
