How about supporting this young lady all the way to the finish line!!! https://www.facebook.com/share/p/14gKzMnSE1j/?mibextid=wwXIfr
If you’ve followed me for very long, you know agriculture has always been a huge part of my story. But what many people don’t know is that it all started with one little show pig named Glam.
At the end of my second-grade year, we brought home our very first project. We didn’t know how to pick a show pig, how to feed one, or how much work it would take. We definitely didn’t know that one decision would open the door to a journey that would shape who I am today.
Showing livestock taught me responsibility, work ethic, humility, and how to keep showing up even when things don’t go your way. It introduced me to some of my best friends, countless mentors, and opportunities I never could have imagined.
Yamboree has always been my favorite part of that journey.
One of the questions I get asked most is, “Don’t you get attached?” The answer is yes. While they’re with me, I love every one of them. They get the best care I can give, plenty of baths, lots of attention, and more premium feed than most people would believe. They live a pretty great show pig life.
And when it’s time for them to leave, I’m grateful. Grateful for the lessons they taught me, the memories we made, and the role they played in helping me grow. Their purpose was always bigger than the show ring, and so was mine.
I’ve hauled pigs across the country, but Yamboree will always feel like home. It’s the place that first believed in me, encouraged me, and helped me fall in love with this industry.
This fall, I’ll walk into the show ring as an exhibitor for the last time. I already know it will be bittersweet. But I’m thankful for every early morning, every trailer ride, every lesson, and every animal that helped get me here.
That’s one reason this Queen’s Race means so much to me. The funding raised during this race helps ensure these opportunities continue for future generations of exhibitors. And that’s something I’ll always be proud to be a part of!!! 🤎🐷🫶🏻
