A little bit of Yorkshire in North Carolina.

When designing her own home on Pinehurst’s No. 9 golf course, Batten Court Design | Interior Design Consultancy founder and principal designer Elizabeth Valkovics pulled from the places that have shaped her family. Her husband’s Yorkshire roots, time spent living and traveling throughout the UK, and the green landscape just outside their windows all found their way into the home.

The kitchen and adjoining living room are a great example of that mix. Classic materials like quartzite, antique mirror, and brass sit alongside hand-troweled Guru Roman Clay on the kitchen hood and fireplace. It gives both spaces a plaster-like finish and brings a little more texture into the mix.

A room with a soundtrack deserves a color with a point of view.

Designed for a family with a deep love of music, every detail in this space was chosen with intention. The photographs were hand selected, and the guitars each have a connection to musicians who have influenced and inspired the family over the years. With so much history and personality on the walls, the room needed a color that could hold its own.

Spill The Wine was the choice. Bold, unmistakable, and just the right amount of dramatic, it gives the collection a backdrop that feels intimate without letting the color fade into the background.

Part 2: The Office

The Lounge was made for lingering. The Office? We wouldn’t mind getting a little work done in here.

For the Thorn St. Project, April Lawrence took the idea of a traditional home office and pushed it somewhere more considered.

Nostalgia in Roman Clay covers the walls and built-ins, creating one continuous palette that makes the room feel intentional from floor to ceiling. The result is a workspace with the character of a study, but none of the stiffness you might expect.

Proof that a home office doesn’t have to look like an office.

Part 1: The Lounge

The Thorn St. Project is a great example of working with the character of an older home rather than trying to make everything feel new. For the Lounge, April Lawrence paired the home’s traditional details with sculptural wood furniture, collected art, and unexpected pieces that give the room a layered, personal feel, almost like a small gallery, but one that still feels distinctly lived in. Meritage on the walls helps pull all of these different elements together, from the artwork and wood furniture to the traditional details and more unexpected pieces.

This is only the first look at the Thorn St. Project. And if this is what we’re doing in the Lounge, wait until you see the Office. Part 2 might just make you rethink what your workspace can look like.

Designed to stop you in your tracks.

For this formal living space in San Diego, byniamiller embraced a monochromatic palette, allowing Jacket to wrap the room in a deep, moody backdrop. A single pop of cobalt blue breaks through the palette, creating just enough contrast to catch your eye.

Sometimes, one unexpected detail is all a space needs.

Some spaces ask you to lean into their history rather than hide it.

Once the Baltimore and Ohio Locust Point Grain Elevator, Silo Point is a landmark residence where the original concrete, exposed steel, and industrial architecture have been thoughtfully preserved. In this full-home renovation by Strom Interiors, Wellfleet in Lime Wash brings a sense of calm to the space, proving that even the boldest industrial interiors can feel inviting without losing their character.

It’s a beautiful reminder that color doesn’t have to compete with a space to transform it.

Sometimes the smallest rooms offer the biggest opportunity to be bold.

For this 1949 Pasadena home renovation, approached the project with the intention of preserving the home’s original character while thoughtfully elevating each space.

Lone Park was chosen for the powder room, where its rich green creates a beautiful contrast against the light terracotta tile and lets the surrounding materials take center stage.

While we’re often highlight more of our specialty finishes like Roman Clay and Lime Wash, projects like this are a reminder that the right color in any finish can make just as much of a statement.

A bath built on memory.

Willow & Grove designed this space around their client’s travels through Spain, Portugal, England, and Mexico, chasing the same softly aged, storied surfaces found in old world architecture.

Patagonia Roman Clay, finished in Roman Clay Topcoat, does the quiet work. Cream, brown, and gold settle into the plaster in a way that reads soft rather than staged, close enough to “inherited” to feel like it was always there.

A 1920s home in Carthay Square, brought back to what it used to be. Lauren Moore of Design Assembly restored the parts of this house that had been stripped out over the years, working around reclaimed beams, a hand fabricated hood, and marble running up to a shelf tucked just beneath it. In the primary bath, an arched doorway opens into a zellige shower, quiet and sunlit.

Eastwood covers both rooms in Lime Wash, holding the morning light instead of competing with it.
