It looks like another hillside pile of dirt, but this groundbreaking is pretty special to us. Our Earl project started more than 8 years ago with two amazing clients and their singular vision for art-focused living. Life’s ups and downs had us transform and adapt the project over the years, somehow improving it without losing its essence. Miraculously, another great client understood its purpose and decided to adopt it. It is now finally getting built by .inc and we could not be more grateful for this great team and excited to see it come out of the ground. Stay tuned for progress!

A few details from our favorite Kengo Kuma’s buildings in Tokyo: Nezu Museum and Sunny Hills. The museum and garden house the private collection of Japanese and East Asian art of Nezu Kaichiro. Sunny Hills was designed for the pineapple cake brand, and that’s all they sell in this wonderful building. The structure, shaped like a bamboo basket, uses a traditional system of wood construction called Jigoku Gumi.

Design details for one of the bathrooms at the Laurel Canyon house, starting construction! Plaster, unlacquered brass, and, making a strong comeback since their pomo office building lobby days, rojo alicante marble tiles! It's all about scale 😉
