Another Magnesite deck / staircases completed & ready for use. These decks needed much love & attention after a few decades of no maintenance. We cleaned , sanded , & washed the deck surface , then proceeded to repair all the cracks. We then sealed with a water based sealer (Slate Gray color). Customer was super happy with the work & loved the new look.

Sealing an existing deck + patio. We washed , cleaned , & prepped the surface and repaired some areas before applying 10 series Desert Tan water based sealer. 2 coats later and the deck & balcony are looking great. Maintenance like this will get you more mileage out of an existing system instead of spending money on a costly replacement.

Waterproofing an existing deck. We removed the existing waterproofing , which was a lath + tar paper combo with Portland cement. This by itself is not waterproof. We instead installed the Desert Cretev system , which is comprised of 7 layers total , with modified cements & waterproof resins. We provided a slip resistant surface & sealed in Monterey Gray. This deck will last many years.

Installing a Waterproof overlay over a Magnesite deck + stairs. When repainting or recoating Magnesite is no longer an option, an overlay can repair a lot of imperfections or cracks easily. We install the Desert Flex system over the existing Magnesite & all steps. We provided a rugged texture finish for traction & longevity. This will hold up under heavy foot traffic, Furniture, rain or sun.

Restoring an interior Magnesite staircase. We spend more time outdoors waterproofing decks & balconies , but it’s a real treat when we get to restore an interior staircase. The owner wanted to get as close to the existing color as possible. We worked with them to get as much of a match as we could , and they couldn’t be happier. We applied the color & then sealed everything in a clear sealer. Now , this will add tons of resale value to the home & best of all will provide a durable & beautiful surface that will be enjoyed for many decades to come. When it comes to restoring Magnesite, do it once & do it right !

Waterproofing a large courtyard. This concrete slab was leaking , allowing water to enter into the parking structure below. The water would stain the vehicles underneath which was obviously a huge problem. So we sanded the surface down, & installed the Desert Flex system one layer at a time. This 2,000 sq ft job was completed in about a week & now this won’t be leaking anytime soon. Better yet, we provided a slip resistant surface that’ll take on foot traffic & sun exposure on a daily basis.

Waterproofing existing balconies. The subfloor was very rotten & damaged so we had a contractor replace the wood as needed , then we applied AL system with a semi-smooth finish. Now this will be an easy to clean, durable, & waterproof surface.

Waterproofing a deck. This original decking had about 2 inches of concrete with Wire mesh , thinset, & slate installed over it originally. The existing waterproofing was a layer of tar paper and plastic sheeting underneath the concrete , which didn’t hold up for very long , & not to mention the slope was inward. Water was leaking below to both garages for quite some time. Customer reached out to , whom recommended us in turn as a certified installer. We removed the existing material & hauled it away, repaired the wood , & provided slope. We then installed the AL system with a semi-smooth finish & sealed with New Cape Cod gray color (heat reflective). Customer loved the finish and water will now drain properly & will remain waterproof.

Repairing part of an existing deck. The area we demoed had a Merko waterproof system. Another vendor had installed a lath-type system over the Merko, but the lath wasn’t stapled enough so the system began to buckle and lift. We installed the Desert Crete system (with more than enough staples) and provided a fine textured finish. The entire deck was then sealed with “Mocca” color.
