Melissa joined RBB in 2010 as a BIM Manager. In her 14 years with the firm, she has been performing project management duties for numerous complex healthcare projects including Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital, Antelope Valley Medical Center, and Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

RBB Architects is pleased to announce that Craig Laurie has been promoted to Principal and Owner of the firm.

Craig came to RBB before finishing college in 1994, and since then has been an essential part of the firm. He has 27 years of experience working on a wide range of healthcare projects, including patient towers and renovations at various facilities across California. He is serving as the project manager for multiple ongoing projects at Mission Hospital, MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center, Valley Presbyterian Hospital, Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, and LA County Department of Public Works.

2024 New York Architectural Design Awards – Silver Winner: Antelope Valley Medical Center, Replacement Hospital – RBB Architects Inc.

RBB is pleased to announce that we are recipients of the Silver Award in the Institutional Architecture – Healthcare Facilities category at the NY Architectural Design Awards for our work at the Antelope Valley Medical Center. The 411,000 SF replacement hospital provides 326 beds with a stand-alone central plant.

This award highlights our commitment to innovative and patient-centered healthcare design, ensuring that our projects not only meet but exceed the needs of the communities they serve. Did you know: Interior design choices can reduce anxiety?

Over the past few years, RBB has successfully delivered a multitude of Imaging projects. Understanding that the layout of healthcare spaces has a profound impact on patient satisfaction, our design philosophy revolves around aesthetics, safe and welcoming environments, and easy access to medical facilities. The image shows one of our most successful Imaging projects at Hoag Memorial Hospital. This state-of-the-art diagnostic room features warm wood details, soft colors, dynamic lighting, sound, and projection features. All are designed to alleviate patient anxiety.

Over recent years, the healthcare design industry has witnessed a significant increase in renovation projects. While each project presents a unique set of circumstances, an Emergency Department Renovation Project tends to bring more challenges.

This 55,000 SF renovation project at Hoag Hospital was completed by RBB. The design goals included minimizing patient waiting times by improving through-put; admitting eliminated bottleneck at the reception and improved privacy; reducing the distance from exam room to nursing station to allow for maximum patient visibility and increased efficiency in non-peak periods.

The project was developed to be an environmentally conscious facility; the sustainable practices implemented allowed it to achieve LEED Silver Certification.
