Thank you for highlighting our Newport Beach project! “In their book, “Outside In” (Vendome Press), showcase the historical architectural styles and modern California tradition that characterize their many exceptional projects. This Newport Beach hilltop hideaway evokes a Portuguese quinta, incorporating elements from that most Mediterranean of vernaculars into the ease and comforts that define the California lifestyle.” 📸:

Chimorro House: Built in 1926 by American architect Roy Seldon Price, the Spanish Revival Chimorro House was originally designed for Mrs. Chimorro, and is thought to have existed as a speakeasy during prohibition. Building upon the work of architect Michael McKeel, Tichenor & Thorp continued the restoration of the storied home and re-envisioned the property’s landscape by adding lush gardens. Through this process of reimagination, Tichenor & Thorp converted a former gatehouse into a whimsical Moroccan-inspired garden teahouse.

After enjoying the NHHS Math & Science Club car rallies and further studies at Bryn Mawr and UCLA, she co-founded a multidisciplinary architectural design practice with her husband Brian Tichenor . Their work is committed to sustainability and been featured in over 25 books and 100 publications, and in 2017 she published her own book on their designs. Honored with many awards, she has sat on the boards of Big Sunday and the South Carthay Historic Preservation Overlay Zone, and is a fellow of the Garden Conservancy, a member of the Society of Architectural Historians, the LA Conservancy, UCLA’s Las Doñas, and a patron of the Hammer Museum and LACMA.

To cheer her on in person, join us under the NHHS tower at 6:30pm for a meet-and-greet with all our honorees, and then take your seat in the theater at 7:30pm for the official induction ceremony. This event is FREE and open to the public, so share this post and tag your NHHS friends so no one misses out on this special evening!
