Elaphoglossum sp. Choco - we have this very unique fern from the Mindo region that is usually found growing as a terrestrial in clay or fallen tree debris. Personally it’s one of my favorites we grow just because it’s not so big in size but also the coloring of the fronds can develop a deep purple stripe down the middle. This is a showy species for the collector that will be available in our upcoming inventory update later this week.

One of the many color variants of the “koi” sylvatica that are found throughout Nariño Colombia, this speckled type was one of a few me and caught and I must say he was very photogenic compared to the others.

Drymonia Variegata - this is one of the trickiest gesineriads we grow and have only found long term success growing this species in our intermediate climate greenhouse. I myself have seen this species a handful of times in Colombia over the years but the best specimens all were growing in Risaralda, CO (second photo insitu). We’ve been working hard to try and be able to produce more of this species and while dividing them hasn’t been hard they are prone to spontaneous melt in drastic temperature swings and slugs consider these types of foliage plants as the main course.

Asplundia aff utilis - although it has quite a range from Central America to Ecuador this Asplundia is not seen often because of its preferred habitat of higher elevation cloudforests. We’ve yet to confirm this plant’s identity but based on very few online photos this is looking a lot like asplundia utilis. Photographed insitu Nariño, Colombia.
