We all recognize the Eames Tandem Sling!

When Eero Saarinen was designing Dulles Airport (outside Washington, DC) in the early 1960s, he asked his longtime-friends Charles and Ray Eames to develop Modernist seating units that would complement the sleek architecture. The result was the minimalist Eames Tandem Sling, now found in airports and train stations around the world, and still in production largely unchanged sixty years later. A tour of Mount Wilson Observatory with the LA AIA, and my astrophysicist husband! The best architecture part was the chance to see the original drawings from 1912-1936, ink on vellum and linen, spectacular! The complex needs some funds for restoration because it really is an important part of early 20th century science advancements and the history of Los Angeles.
