We are thrilled to have a supporter of the arts in Chancellor Frenk.

Although much of Frenk’s time has been spent immersed in science and medicine, he said that music, art and literature have always played a big role in his life.

“The connection between science and the arts is the world I grew up in... My mother was a classical concert pianist. Two of my sisters are professional musicians. My grandmother was the curator at the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico.”

“I’m impressed and inspired by the richness of the arts at UCLA, by the Hammer and Fowler museums and the arts schools themselves. The university really provides such wealth for the city’s arts and music lovers.”

Edgar Miramontes has been named the new executive and artistic director of UCLA’s Center for the Art of Performance!

Miramontes comes to CAP UCLA from
REDCAT - Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater, where he has served as deputy executive director and curator since 2019, and associate director from 2013-2019.

CAP UCLA names Edgar Miramontes executive and artistic director, making him the organization's first leader of color since its founding in 1936.

UCLA Department of Art professor and department chair Catherine Opie's exhibition "Binding Ties" at Heide Museum of Modern Art is her first survey in Australia, showcasing three decades of work with central themes of gender, sexuality, and q***r culture.

Catherine Opie's photographs investigate modern perspectives on gender, sexuality, and q***r cultures with reference to the artist's personal history.

UCLA Department of Art professor Anna Sew Hoy presents an exhibition at SFMOMA, highlighting her interest “in turning things inside out to explore the relationship between the exterior world and interior space and the inevitable porousness between them.”

Los Angeles–based sculptor Anna Sew Hoy’s Growing Ruins rise from the floor in a mesmerizing tangle of hand-built clay arches, found metal cages, and detritus ranging from charging cords to denim scraps.

UCLA Art alumnus Eamon Ore-Giron is a featured artist in "Rising Sun: Artists in an Uncertain America" exhibition, inviting artist to respond to the question: “Is the sun rising or setting on the experiment of American democracy?”

The African American Museum in Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts present Rising Sun: Artists in an Uncertain America, an exhibition of new works by 20 artists invited to respond to the question: “Is the sun rising or setting on the experiment of American democracy?”

The Fowler Museum unveiled its new exhibition with Haitian artist Myrlande Constant Art on the drapo Vodou tradition, marking her as the first Haitian woman to have a solo show in a major U.S. Museum.

A retrospective of textile artist Myrlande Constant has opened at UCLA's Fowler Museum. Curators say it's the first solo show of a Haitian woman at an American museum.
