Artist Spotlight: Nina Izycka

Originally from Warsaw, Nina's work is shaped by Polish poster art and illustration from the mid-to-late 20th century - bold, graphic, and always with a strong point of view. The "Figurines" wall art print she designed for Slowdown Studio was inspired by pre-Columbian sculptures. Nina has taken that ancient folk-art energy and made it her own with four creatures rendered in hot pink against deep forest green, their surfaces filled with stripes, dots, and hand-drawn marks.

Love this living room by architects üssa inna for Jeanne in Paris. The Cooper throw blanket designed by artist Lotta Maija gives the room a playful focal point. The oversized slightly cartoonish floral shapes in mustard, burgundy and sage feel graphic and brings fun personality to the cream corduroy underneath.

The yellow bookshelf also brings such a joyful energy and it means the space holds onto that warmth even when the sun's not hitting it directly. Also love how the cream sofa is the one neutral moment here because it lets everything else go colourful while still feeling grounded.

"Gallop" Wall Art Print by artist Ryan Bradley in Sophie's apartment.

The design of this print is quiet and spacious which suits the simplicity of Sophie's apartment and prevents the artwork from competing with the sculptural lighting, colourful furniture and collected objects. At the same time, the unusual landscape and slightly naïve drawing style give the space personality and stop it feeling too polished.

Metal and lacquered surfaces are softened by linen bedding, corduroy upholstery and the Yukimi woven throw used as a wall hanging. The large Yukimi blanket used as wall art is particularly effective because it adds scale, texture and personality without feeling as formal as a large framed artwork.

Artist spotlight - Lotta Maija

Lotta is a Finland based artist who designed our newest Cooper Throw and is recognised for her vivid use of colour, organic floral and fruit motifs and bold compositions. Her work combines playfulness with a sweet, yet striking aesthetic.

Based in Helsinki, she draws much of her inspiration from the country's dramatic seasonal shift, filling summer days with long walks and bike rides to document blooming flowers, before the winter. Her favourite way to slow down is the ritual of walking to the nearest public bath and bathing with the same local grannies every evening.

"Mother Nature's Magic" Wall Art Print by artist Imogen Sinclair in Jamie Quilici's mid century modern living room.

We love the mix of vintage furniture, sculptural lighting, ceramics, books and art. The palette works so well with the warm walnut, to***co leather, rust, cream and soft grey form a warm neutral interior, while the vivid red floral artwork acts as a strong visual contrast. Also love the way Jamie displays his art collection - leaning the pieces against walls, layered with books and objects, and allowed to feel informal and relaxed.

There's also a really nice balance between hard and soft materials like the chrome shelving and glass tables which are softened by paper lanterns, curtains, carpet and upholstered seating to create a modern vintage interior feel. The low furniture, generous negative space and oversized lighting give the rooms a nice spaciousness.

Slowdown Inspiration - .studio 's eclectic design for Sydney-based Sri Lankan/Tamil artist . The project was inspired by Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa's Tropical modernism style and warm terracotta red palette.

A pair of fantastical thrones anchor the dining area, each modelled on one of the artist's spirit animals - a peacock and an elephant, both native to Sri Lanka. Many features were made by the artist himself like the mirror framed in handmade tiles and the bronze pendant light with a face pressed into the metal.

NEW ✨ Introducing the Cooper Throw blanket by Finland-based artist Lotta Maija for Slowdown Studio.

Lotta works in saturated colour, turning flowers and fruit into bold, flattened compositions that feel playful and graphic at the same time.

This design came out of a Finnish summer where Lotta spent time biking around the city, photographing flowers in full bloom and storing them up against the darker months ahead. The design is built from flat, stacked shapes: fruit and flowers layered on top of each other like a collage. Each shape with one solid colour and a bold outline, set against a dusty pink background with pops of mustard yellow, plum, orange, and sage green setting a scandinavian aesthetic.

Use it as a couch blanket, a bed blanket, a wall art tapestry, or wherever you need a little colour or personality.

Artist Spotlight: Deb Chapman

Deb creates intuitive abstract work with coloured pencils and acrylic on timber boards, drawing from the Australian landscape she lives in. Her new art print takes its name from the Scribbly Gum, a native eucalyptus marked by the winding trails of moths tunnelling through its bark, the starting point for a single continuous line that meanders across a warm brown ground, carrying blocks of colour as it travels.

Deb slows down by wandering around with her Fujifilm camera and taking photos of little unexpected things flowers, grass, treebank, birds and things you’d normally walk past.
