When I burn fir I adhere to the techniques thought me by the old original Al organic farmer and wood Carver Fred Pearson of Felton CA.
Build a small hot fire with square chunks and keep it stoked. You will need to feed the fire more often...but if you keep a small hot center going in your stove you will throw a lot of heat with moderate wood consumption and no visible smoke. To this end I cut my fir rounds half the width of most people 6"--8" inches, dry them out and then stack them up in a pyramid pile which is easily covered during rain storms. It takes longer to buck up but you make up the time on the splitting. So Easy and you end up with efficient burning cubes of wood. 🔥

Heavy Rains turn our local streams and rivers brown as sediment from in and around the stream become caught up and suspended in the high flows. After a few days the flows are still much higher than normal but the water has turned from brown to beautiful and varied shades of green and is clear in the upper reaches of the smaller creeks. 💦☔️🌊 @ Santa Cruz Mountains

So happy to be working with Steve Hamm again as The Whole House Remodel nears completion. I have known him since 7th grade...but it's been awhile since I have had the pleasure to team up on a project together.
Steve is handling the bulk of all the finish work on this project. Doors, Floors, Base Boards, Trims , Handrails & Moldings. He can do most anything construction but he loves finish work and it shows!
