My boi Matt told me he was in search of a cheap beginner guitar. I said say no more fam, I have a squier pawn shop ‘51 that I have done a lot of damage to over the years. It’s my “beater”. I put new frets on it, hand filed the nut (bison bone), full vintage cloth rewire (of course), new pot, and installed a les Paul humbucker in the bridge position. Also note that pretty little univox amp k**b from the 60’s. It plays and sounds fantastic for what it is. I am pretty proud of this one.

As you can see I have attempted to smash this thing several times but it stood up to me like a tru champ. Anderson Council - I named it “Stitch”. Enjoy duder!

Updated this 2012 J bass with cloth wiring, new (ish) output jack (long story 🙄), nut slot repair, bridge cleanup, cleaned and reconditioned the fretboard, shielded the cavities with slug tape, and grounded on both ends of the circuit. A full setup as well with a few minor repairs here and there.

It’s quiet as a mouse until you play Master of Puppets in which case the SD basslines pup and the stock j bass pup mixed together create a really unique growl.

It’s cheaper and easier for me to just fully rewire a guitar because I don’t have to spend time troubleshooting. Plus it totally enhances your sound and looks cool asf anyway. Do it.
