The hyacinth vine I started from seed that I bought from an Amish store in Tennessee.
They arent thick and lush like seen in other parts of the country but as the weather gets cooler they are growing taller and flowering more.
We have the hardest time getting anything to grow in the soil in this spot for some reason. So I started these in a pot in the greenhouse and moved them out here when the weather warmed.

The hummingbirds never make their way here, but the hummingbird moths do. Theyre neat little creatures to watch.

A three day weekend, a break in storms, and a little (ok, a lot) of garden goodies picked.

The second cutting of broccoli 🥦 got done today, and I pulled the plants due to pest pressure (again).

I also picked some sweet peppers.

I tried to harvest cabbage but there wasn’t enough left to make it worth it, so the chickens got those.

And the chickens benefitted from it all.

I also got some more of the fall crop stuff planted out in the raised bed and lick tubs. Crossing my fingers 🤞🏻 that these grasshoppers die off soon! They are a nuisance this year! Theyve eaten most of my huckleberries and elderberries, making that harvest next to none, if any.

And then the next storm rolled in, so in the house for a shower and lunch I went.

A yellow garden spider 🕷️ Complete with zigzag seam down the middle. Harmless and beneficial…just the way we like our farm 😊

And due to bug pressure…2026 zucchini season is now over at our house.
One more bushel picked, a bunch became chicken treats, and another bare spot in the garden.

Ive been wanting to try this recipe for a few weeks and never end up having the time.
It’s actually much quicker than I thought because you dont have to drain or squeeze the liquid out of the zucchini.
Ill let you know how it is tomorrow because Im bringing it to work. But the browned butter frosting is 🤤🤤🤤

Zucchini cake with pecans and browned butter frosting.
