Busy day on the farm. As our last freeze date approaches, the land gets greener and the greenhouse fills up with color 😍
We did our flower run this afternoon and picked up my pre-order plants from . Most of those plants are basket/container plants. Then we went to and picked up some strawberries, rosemary and lavender for the strawberry bed and around the chicken coop. Also got 15 bags of mulch and two bags of soil.
Came back home and got to work! Added some compost to the strawberry bed, then some potting mix, and a layer of mulch and then planted the berries in it. After that I moved to the chicken coop area. Yesterday I pulled down the clematis (the wind had blown it off the top of the coop again this winter) and trimmed it and the rose bush it had grown into and then used the rake and leaf blower to get a bunch of corn leaves out of the bed. Laid 12 bags of mulch down, then sprayed it all down and watered it in to lock it in place. Once the chance of freeze is out of the forecast, Ill plant the rosemary and lavender. Its what I use for fly control around the coop and it works wonders!
Mark wanted to water the yard between the coops to get the grass going, so he added the sprinkler.
Throughout the day I also worked on a small project for the strawberry bed that Ill share later when its finished 😊
In the next day or so Ill plant up my hanging baskets and some of the pots I have around the property to get them going and established and then itll be warm enough to move them outdoors. In the meantime theyll stay warm and cozy in the greenhouse.
We just finished dinner and now Im off to finish laundry, collect eggs and shower before bed. Headed back to work tomorrow!
