An Entire Lifetime Of Feeling Like It Should Be Easy But It Never Actually Is, 2025

Assemblage of wood and various coatings

This assemblage presents a reflection on the slow erosion of expectation. Rising like a fractured skyline, the assembled forms suggest the shape of ambition — reaching upward, crowded, and strained. Yet nothing here rises easily. Every piece leans, presses, or falters, marked by the burden of persistence.

The work contemplates the belief, often held tightly, that with enough effort things should fall into place. Yet, here, the structure tells another story — one where no amount of careful building brings ease or resolution. The resulting form is neither collapse nor triumph, but endurance marked by compromise.

An Entire Lifetime of Feeling Like It Should Be Easy But It Never Actually Is invites viewers to consider the quiet weight of carrying on when simplicity never arrives, and the quiet strength found in doing so anyway.

∩, 2024
Assemblage of wood and various finishes

In ∩, the artist reflects on the persistent urge to divide — to name one part rough and another refined, to separate ourselves into opposites. Yet the work itself resists such a reading. Though its surfaces differ — splintered on one side, darkened and worn on the other — neither side exists without the other. Both have been shaped by the same forces of time, pressure, and weathering.

The piece suggests that what feels like division is often the natural condition of being. We are not simply rough or refined, strong or worn, but shaped by the steady accumulation of both. Time does not carve us neatly; it weathers us unevenly, leaving us to carry marks from every season.

In this piece, the artist invites viewers to reflect on the gentle truth that wholeness does not come from resolution, but from the acceptance that we are both — rough and worn, fragmented and continuous, imperfect and complete.

Of Womb And Of Tomb, 2025
Sculpture of wood and steel

We enter this world cradled in the dark, held in a space of becoming. We leave it encased in the earth, returning not to silence, but to communion with the divine. Between these two thresholds, we are always both arriving and departing—half living, half dying.

This piece reflects that duality. The form suggests both the gentle curve of a child in the womb and the solemn weight of a tombstone, reminding us that life itself is a liminal space. We exist in the tension of beginning and ending, growing and decaying, inhaling and exhaling. To live is to move forward in both directions at once.

Of Womb and Of Tomb is an invitation to acknowledge this truth—not with fear, but with reverence. It is a meditation on the fleeting, sacred nature of existence, a reminder that every moment holds the echo of our first breath and the whisper of eternity.

Third Path, 2024
Assemblage of wood, found objects, and various finishes

This work presents a hammer and a nail, both affixed to a wooden substrate by a single large nail penetrating through the hammer’s handle, binding them together. Both heads are painted red to symbolize their shared identity.
The piece challenges the binary notion of choosing between being the hammer or the nail—either dominating or being dominated. Society often presents these as the only options, but Third Path envisions an alternative where individuals are not confined by such rigid roles. It advocates for recognizing our shared humanity, finding balance, and creating a world where strength is not achieved through the subjugation of others. By rejecting this false dichotomy, Third Path encourages new ways of interaction based on empathy, cooperation, and mutual respect.
