Supporting a good cause, close to our hearts … the 53rd Annual AIA Golf Tournament, held recently at the Rawls Golf Course, raised funds for scholarships to Architecture students. BGR Architects' Pedro Gonzalez (foreground) and Joshua Martin enjoyed the afternoon activities.

It’s incredibly rewarding to partner with local school districts to support educators through financial donations that enhance student learning! Recently, Frenship ISD’s fifth-grade science teachers Jasmine Herring and Kayla Lucus received classroom grants from the Friendship Foundation for Leadership and donor BGR Architects to support hands-on learning at Westwind Elementary.

BGR’s Pedro Gonzalez and Jamie McCann presented the awards to the two teachers, who plan to use the funds to expand student’s dissection experiences with real organisms. These engaging, hands-on activities will give students opportunities to make real-world observations, ask questions, and deepen their understanding of science.

BGR received an Outstanding Project Award and national recognition from Learning By Design for the Dumas ISD Career and Technical Education Facility in Dumas, Texas. A jury of education, architecture, and facility design professionals recognized BGR for it’s achievement, offering the following comments. “The design thoughtfully reflects the agricultural and industrial character of the area while using the site’s long axis to organize the program efficiently. The linear layout maximizes available space and accommodates a diverse range of programs. Efficient material selection and space planning contribute to a cost-effective, functional solution that responds well to the project’s programmatic needs.”

The Lubbock County Historical Commission held its quarterly meeting at Lubbock's First Baptist Church. They were pleased to view the church's historic marker, which had been "missing in action." Originally designated in 1991 for the First Baptist Church's centennial, the marker evidently was never installed. Sometime in the future, LCHC will host an unveiling ceremony for the newly-discovered plaque.

First Baptist Church was founded in 1891 and held its first services in the unfinished Lubbock County Jail before the congregation moved to the courthouse in 1892. FBC's first building was constructed in 1901. The current sanctuary at Broadway and Avenue V was completed in 1951.

We are proud to announce and celebrate Pedro Gonzalez as he joins the ownership team at BGR Architects.

Pedro first joined BGR Architects while pursuing his master’s degree at Texas Tech University, beginning his career with the firm as a part-time architectural intern. Since completing his degree, he passed the NCARB examination and fulfilled all TBAE requirements to become a licensed architect. Through his dedication and professional growth, Pedro has grown into a valuable Project Architect and team leader.

BGR is excited to welcome Pedro to the leadership team. We look forward to the talent, optimism, and dedication he brings to our organization.

BGR Architects’ David Beckham and Pedro Gonzalez recently visited with Frenship ISD students in Mrs. Swink’s and Ms. Wolfe’s classes at Westwind Elementary. It was Career Day and the architects gave the students a glimpse of what the world of architecture looks like. With engaged young minds like these, the future of design looks bright!

Congratulations to Roosevelt ISD on the completion of their new Dining Facilities, Locker Rooms, Classrooms and more! BGR enjoyed working with the RISD staff on this project. Best of luck to all the RISD students, faculty and staff as they head into the 2026/27 school year with new/renovated facilities.
