If you’re anything like us, your relationship with native plants goes through phases. You start by just trying to figure out what a "native" even is, and then you find yourself constantly debating how local your plant choices actually need to be.

We watched a webinar last night that featured Dr. John Kartesz (creator of BONAP maps) and his views on what makes a plant NATIVE.

He’s spent 50 years mapping 33,000+ plant taxa across North America, building the foundation that nurseries and apps rely on.

In this rare session, he digs into the real questions we all wrestle with as our gardens evolve:
🌱 What actually defines a native plant?
🌱 How local should your choices be?
🌱 How do we navigate that messy middle ground of non-natives?

What a weekend! 🌿💛 To everyone who wandered through Seed & Stem or stopped by during our backyard hours, thank you. Showing up, shopping small, and supporting our little business means so much to us. Even with a less-than-perfect setup, y’all rolled with the chaos and made it such a special weekend.

We still have lots of plants looking for good homes, and the weather at the end of the week is shaping up to be perfect for planting. If you didn’t get a chance to shop the festival, send us a DM to schedule a garden hour or place a porch pickup order 😊

Every plant you bring home, every conversation we share, and every smile across the tables helps this small seed of a dream keep growing roots in our community.

We are officially up to our ears in plants 🌿

We just unloaded our biggest haul ever, and it feels like Lubbock has bloomed overnight. We have been busy getting everyone settled in, and the variety is staggering; tough-as-nails shrubs, vibrant perennials, and everything in between!

How to bring a piece of this home:
🌼Visit us: Message us here to schedule a 'Garden Hour' in our backyard to shop.

🌸Place an order: DM us with your plant order, and we will send you a digital invoice for you to pick up at your convenience.

🌿Find us in the wild: We’re loading up the trailers for the Seed and Stem Festival by Mo Productions this Saturday! Come see us at the Arboretum from 9am–4pm.

The LBK Seed Library is restocked 🌿

Featuring a NEW seed… Scrambled Eggs 🍳 and a few Native Agenda pins 🤩

So thankful for everyone who’s donated and kept this little library going. It’s turned into more than seeds!
