Is Jobber Worth It?

For my first decade in the trades I ran the whole operation out of my head, a clipboard, and a truck full of crumpled invoices. Worked fine until it didn't. Missed appointments. Quotes I forgot to send. Money sitting in jobs I never billed because I lost the paper.

The contractors who struggle usually aren't short on skill. They're short on a system. The business is held together with text messages, sticky notes, and memory, and memory is the first thing to go on a 14 hour day.

I went through 1,300+ verified reviews and put 30 years in the field against it. Wrote the honest version. What Jobber does well, where it falls short (the QuickBooks sync gripes are real), and exactly who should NOT use it.

If you've outgrown the clipboard, read it before you spend a dime:

P.S. If you've got more than 20 techs or run heavy commercial, the review tells you straight to look elsewhere. That's the point. Honest means honest.

Twenty years on job sites taught me something about leads.
Most contractors chase the cheap ones. Then they wonder why the phone rings with tire-kickers and price-shoppers who already called five other guys.

Stop counting cost per lead. Start counting cost per booked job. That one switch changes everything.

Full breakdown here, real costs for HVAC, roofing, plumbing, remodeling, and how to build a pipeline that doesn't dry up every fall.

Columbus contractors: I can only say yes to one of you.

Your website company is also your competitor's website company.
Think about that. Same firm, same templates, same "strategy," cashing checks from both sides of your market and rooting for nobody.

I don't play it that way. ONE contractor per trade, per area. If you're in, your competition is locked out, and I go to work against them: their rankings, their weak pages, the searches they're stealing from you.

One slot per trade in Columbus. Filled is filled. (Bathroom Remodeling is filled, don't ask.)

Reply "COLUMBUS" if it should be you.

WARNING TO COLUMBUS CONTRACTORS:
One of your competitors is about to lock you out of this offer permanently.

Here's the deal, and I'll be blunt because your time is worth money.
My company manages websites for exactly ONE contractor per service trade, per market. One HVAC company in your area. One plumber. One kitchen remodeler. That's it. When the slot is filled, it's filled. (Bathroom remodeling is closed for Columbus) Your competitor calls me next week, I tell him no, and I keep telling him no for as long as you're my client.

Why would I run a business this way? Because the alternative is what every other website company does: they take your money AND your competitor's money, build you both the same template, and let you fight it out while they cash two checks. You've suspected this is happening. You're right. I've seen the invoices.
When I take a market, I go to work AGAINST your competition. I pull the data on who's beating you, where they're weak, what they rank for that they shouldn't, and how the new AI search is about to reshuffle who gets the phone call. Then I build your site to take that ground and hold it.

This is not for everybody. If you're happy being the third name on page one, keep your money. If your idea of marketing is a $99/month template and a prayer, we'd waste each other's time. But if you're wanting to increase your revenue to $2M to $10M and you're sick of watching inferior outfits outrank you, your market is sitting open right now.

It will not sit open long. I'm choosing one contractor per trade in Columbus this summer. Either it's you, or it's the guy whose trucks you pass every morning.

Reply "COLUMBUS" or visit korekomfortsolutions.com before your slot closes.

P.S. When a market is taken, I don't keep a waiting list. The contractor who hesitated doesn't get a second chance later. He gets to compete against my client instead.

Tactical 7: The Ideal Customer for Contractors - Finding the Zone of Least Competition

There is a difference between your best customer and your ideal customer.

Your best customer is the one you enjoy working with. Your ideal customer, in the strategic sense, is the one where your close rate is highest, your margin is strongest, and the dominant competitor in your market has left a genuine gap in how they are being served.

Finding that customer takes four steps: profiling from your own job history, verifying the segment is large enough to build on, mapping the competitive gap, and confirming your operation can serve them better than anyone currently does.

New tactical piece in the Laws of the Contractor's Campaign covers all four steps with concrete tools for each.

HASHTAGS:

A four-step process for identifying and validating the customer segment your dominant competitor cannot profitably serve. Profile, size, gap map, operational fit.

Jobber Review: An Honest Look at the #1 Software for Home Service Contractors

Every year, thousands of home service contractors make a decision that will either save them hundreds of hours or cost them months of frustration: choosing their contractor management software.

Jobber sits at the center of that decision for most small operators. With over 250,000 home service professionals using the platform and a consistent 4.5-star rating across Capterra, G2, and GetApp, it has earned a reputation as the go-to choice for growing service businesses. But reputation alone doesn’t pay your bills or schedule your crews. You need to know whether Jobber actually delivers and whether it’s the right fit for your specific operation.

For this review, we analyzed over 1,300 verified user reviews across major platforms, cross-referenced independent software research, and drew on 30-plus years of hands-on experience running home service businesses across Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee. We looked at pricing, the features that actually matter in the field, the pain points that real users consistently report, and the situations where a different tool might serve you better.

This is not a paid promotion and it is not a feature list dressed up as a review. It’s a straight answer to the question every contractor eventually asks: Is Jobber worth it?

Thirty years in the trades taught me something about loyalty. The good outfits picked their people and stuck with them. The bad ones hired anybody with a truck and wondered why nothing held together.

Yesterday we made a call at Kore Komfort Solutions I should've made a long time ago.

We will only manage the website for one contractor per service in a given area. One HVAC company. One plumber. One remodeler. If you're our client, your competition can't be. We turn them away.
Most website companies will take everybody's money. They'll build your site and your competitor's site and never blink. To them you're a line on an invoice.

That's not how I operate.

When we take you on, we go to work on your competition. We study who you're up against, what the industry's doing, how the SEO and the new AI search are changing who gets the call. Then we build you a site aimed at winning your market, not just checking a box.

I'm not trying to manage a thousand websites. I'm trying to help a handful of good contractors run their competition off the field.
If you've got a market worth owning, let's talk.

A reporting system tells you what happened. An intelligence system tells you what to do next.

The difference is triggers: a defined threshold for each number that produces a specific response when it is crossed. Without triggers, a dashboard is data you read for comfort on a slow Friday. With triggers, it is a decision instrument you use on Monday morning before the week starts.

New tactical piece builds the full 12-metric contractor dashboard: the six core numbers from Law 6 plus six supporting diagnostics, a trigger table for all twelve, and the build process to have the whole system running this week in under two hours.

The complete 12-metric contractor intelligence dashboard. Six core numbers to know cold every Monday, six supporting metrics that explain why they moved.

Housecall Pro already killed one website builder. They shut down the self-service version, told everybody it was discontinued, and replaced it with a done-for-you service where you can't even touch your own site. Want to change a phone number? Submit a request and wait.
Here's the part that should stop you cold. Cancel HCP and your website goes down with it. Every page, every bit of ranking you built, gone. You don't own it. You're renting it.
Their dispatch software is good. Keep it. Just don't build your whole web presence on top of it. The contractors who did that the first time got a memo, not a vote.
I wrote up the whole thing, what the 15 page cap actually costs you on Google, and how to keep HCP for dispatch while owning your website outright.
