A retaining wall is only as strong as what’s happening behind it.

Proper drainage is a huge part of building a retaining wall that lasts. Without it, water can build up behind the wall, freeze during our Wisconsin winters, and create pressure that can cause blocks to move, shift or push outward over time.

At Big Mike’s Outdoor Services, we don’t cut corners. We make sure drainage is done right, and we exclusively use Versa-Lok blocks because we believe they’re the best-quality blocks you can use for a strong, durable retaining wall.

What started as a simple shed pad creation project turned into a whole lot more! 🪨💪🏼

The homeowners decided to extend the original retaining wall an additional 45 feet, add a finished pillar at the end, and completely transform the space.

And we’re just getting started… 👀

Next up: a brand-new graded yard + a finished rock bed to bring the whole project together for this brand new home build.
