Eight pounds of blackberries yielded 16 half-pint jars and 6 - four ounce jars of jam. Tucker is thrilled, as he could live off of pb&j sandwiches. We created three varieties: plain blackberry, blackberry honey, and blackberry apple jam.

The past two months have flown by. Almost every night Tuck and I are in the garden. And it is good for the soul ❤️ Yesterday we spent most of the day weeding, laying down cardboard, and adding compost. He worked really hard to spread it out around the tomatoes. I wish I had taken pictures of him and Grandma S but I didn't think of it in the moment.

So far we have about 70 tomato plants, 50 pepper plants, 30 winter squash, potatoes, buckets of herbs, and some other odds and ins.

This weekend was spent up-potting and filling the greenhouse! Tucker was so excited but wasn't a fan that we didn't get into the garden.

This week I'll be posting hours for when we'll be open for plant sales next month!

Friday Tucker came to me and asked what was for supper. When I told him that I didn't feel like cooking myself and asked him what he was going to cook, he jumped at the chance and grabbed his cooking binder. He picked out a spaghetti squash bolognese recipe since we had all the ingredients. We had about seven spaghetti squash stored still from last fall in the basement, only needed two. And he grabbed two jars of crushed tomatoes.

Tucker and baby James couldn't get enough! Both of them went back for seconds and thirds.

Spaghetti squash is definitely being grown again this year. Especially since it produces a lot and stores so well. We gave away around ten and kept about ten fruits ourselves.

Let's talk heirlooms!
Honestly I didn't know much about them until someone here asked if Tuck and I grew them. Since then we've sure to have a mixture of heirloom and new varieties. This year we're looking foreward to saving our own seeds and hoping to decrease our cost.

🍅What are heirloom seeds?
They are varieties of plants that have been cultivated to have the same traits for over 50 years. The seed you grow is the same as the parent plant. It means you can get the same specific traits every year. Or it means you can collect seeds from the best of your produce, grow it the following year, and cultivate your own new variety.

Here are the heirloom varieties we're growing this year. I haven't listed all of them for sale since some are new to us and I'm not sure how well they'll grow. But as long as they grow you can buy them come May!

Hello All!
The 2023 garden year was a little bit crazy for us last year and I do apologize. As Tucker was growing his flowers and crops I was busy growing his little brother. And while he was very dedicated to watering his geraniums, my tomatoes might have been forgotten 🫢 Luckily we were able to get a fall crop in and enjoy some fresh veggies and fruit along with our newest bundle. Along with learning new tricks and growing new plants.

Please enjoy the photos of Tucker's Garden last year, Tucker cooking with his plants, and his baby brother, as I work on gathering a list of everything we'll be growing and offering this year.

Tucker's told me that it's time to start thinking about flowers and the garden again! He's excited for all the pollinators this year.

*So on that note, what is everyone needing started this year? We just need a general idea of what and how much.

Tucker wants to see how everyone's plants are doing! Please share your gardens with us 🥰

Sorry it's been so long since we last posted; it's been busy around here.

First official harvest. Tomatoes are doing amazing even though we got them in late. They're almost as tall as Tucker!! Didn't get the cantaloupe in until today. We ran into a soil issue, way too much clay, and took awhile to decide how we'd like to continue.

Tucker says he loves the green bell peppers and wants to eat them tomorrow for supper. The extra peppers will be washed and frozen. We're going to make cayanne powder and red pepper flakes with all the cayanne peppers this week.

I have a strong dislike for mosquitoes and am always looking for ways to keep them away from me especially while I garden. This year I added Lemongrass specifically for that reason!
