New customer calls and says he has horrible leak upstairs that had caused his living room ceiling to collapse. He then informs me that he’s had 2 plumbers before me and both were unsuccessful in locating the leak. I’ll never understand why neither company fully inspected the drain line directly over the hole in the ceiling 🤦🤦.

With the temperature about to drop and the amount of ice the upstate may get we need to make sure that any exposed piping is covered or wrapped. Disconnect any hose pipes from your outside hosebibbs. For a few dollars they make a little cover you can get from Ace Hardware, Walmart, Lowe’s or Home Depot that will cover your outside hosebibb and help protect it from the elements. For those with piping that is prone to freezing it probably would not be a bad idea to let a faucet drip through the night. We always offer a 10% discount to any vet, active duty and first responders. Make sure you let us know when scheduling your appointment so you get your well deserved discount. S&A Plumbing Services is one of the very few companies in the area that will not charge a service fee just for showing up. We diagnose, propose and if all parties are in agreement then we move forward with only the cost of the repair. I’ve never agreed with charging someone to show up just to find out they can’t afford the price of the repair. Is that really helping the customer??? Opinions welcome!

So the good news is that the better part of the Upstate shouldn’t have this issue tonight but try to keep track of the weather. If it’s going to drop below freezing and stay there for a while make sure that you leave a faucet dripping. If possible wrap any exposed plumbing or hose bibs with insulation. A towel and duct tape is better than nothing on short notice. Stay safe and stay warm and be sure to call S&A Plumbing Services for any plumbing issues you may have!
