A WEEK OF RUSTIC ELEGANCE. Ok, so this one may actually qualify as “sleek elegance” but it deserves a spotlight. My friends at were in need of a replacement round hardwood frame. They also expressed a preference for walnut and approved a newer (read: not weathered) finish. I knew my friend Hector at had recently created a handful of round frames for another client of his so I tapped him for this project. The final product was stunning and the intaglio should be very happy in her new home!

A WEEK OF RUSTIC ELEGANCE. Throwback to a classic, wood & gilt closed-corner trio from Quattro. Of all lines I created at Regence, I definitely had the most fun with the Rustic Elegance collection. When I joined the company, there were two wood finishes (Bronzino & Rosewood). About 10 years in, I began designing & adding new distressed woods including Banya, Mora, Pino, Amara and Olivewood. I’m proud that each of these fun finishes I created are alive and well and finding new life at Quattro Frames!

A WEEK OF RUSTIC ELEGANCE. I was reminded today that it isn’t only wood frames that can be considered ‘rustic’. An NYC client was looking for a few ‘weathered, rusty’ welded frame options. Of course, I reached into my Stinky MetalWorks photo file and sent off this gorgeous duo (among others). When I asked what was being framed, my customer explained it was a contemporary multimedia piece “with a rustic aesthetic.” And there you go…

A WEEK OF RUSTIC ELEGANCE. A potential new user of VIRTUAL FRAMER asked me to mock up a photo in a few different LJ profiles so he could see the clarity. Since he is a photographer and a framer, and since we are heading into wedding season, I thought I’d visualize one of my daughter’s wedding photos from 2023. Honestly? I did not realize just how many nice, woodsy profiles carries. I’d definitely display this!

A FLAMIN’ FRIDAY FLASHBACK. Consider this your friendly reminder that closed-corner Shou Sugi Ban frames are BACK! My friend debuted his Lucky Skunk Frames at the in Orlando. The centerpieces of the booth were his first-ever Shou Sugi Ban samples and frames … which attendees loved! Personally, I am excited that the handcrafted, custom side of this art form is back in the framing spotlight!

“FRAMES IN WHITE SATIN 🎶” My friends at will occasionally throw a few thematic samples together and send me a couple of pics. I kinds fell in love with this white assortment for two reasons. Firstly, I appreciate they are purposefully reinventing the Gerlach classics with contemporary finishes. Secondly, I’m diggin’ the bold white / leaf combinations they’re creating. Ziello is definitely one closed-corner frame maker to keep an eye on!

WOODWORKING FUN FOR WEDNESDAY. When I share a post of wood frames, they’re usually simple stained gallery woods or purposefully carved and distressed closed-corner designs. Today though, I decided to travel into funkytown with this awesome contemporary wood trio from in New York. When clients order these funkier hand-carved styles (and others!), Hector and his crew perk up as pieces like these are fun to make and offer a break from their more traditional offerings.

PRESENTING: The Deja View Photo Frame Collection (Phase 1)! My friends, the Youngers, have been working on this, their first handmade & hand-finished photo frame set for a while now. After a successful market test at , they’re ready to share these custom gilded pieces with their fellow framers! Each style is available in 4x6, 5x7 and 8x10. 😄

The Official Debut of DEJA VIEW! With our nation’s 250th birthday looming large, I am thrilled to announce the industry launch of Deja View photo frames! These handmade, hand gilded (12k & 23k), custom pieces are the brainchild of my friends at . The Youngers had noticed the dearth of higher end, hand crafted photo frames on the market and took it upon themselves to fill the void. This Patriot pair (available in 5x7 & 8x10) is but their first design I’m spotlighting. DM me for pricing & info!

SOMETHING SPECIAL. Flashback Friday. When I talk about “thinking (framing) outside the box” with my framer students, this is one of my favorite examples to share. A client approached my friend Marlowe Hill of with an interesting artwork. He was framing Dr. Seuss’ “The Great Cat Continuum” which features said cat making his way through a tunnel of ‘windows’. As they were chatting, Marlowe had the idea to re-create one of those out of square ‘windows’ as the frame. And he did! To date, this remains one of my favorite Black Rabbet pieces.
