Blessed to report that the Macomb Gardens and Greenspaces project has gained almost a hundred new followers across social media in 2026! Gardening sneak peeks from 2025 participants are reaching literally *thousands* of people. Since the word is clearly getting out, I think it’s time to reintroduce myself.

My name is Sarah, and I’m a Macomb County native who loves writing and gardening. 🌸 Last winter, I decided to combine those two passions and write a book all about the best flora and foliage our little patch of Southeast Michigan has to offer. Macomb Gardens and Greenspaces is a colorful collage of stories and photos featuring the residents, local businesses, community spaces, and farms that make Macomb great. 📖 MGG goes to print next spring, and I can’t wait to share our neighbors’ stories with you all.

My summer days are filling up with interviews, photoshoots, writing, and even doing a little gardening of my own. Follow along here on Facebook or Instagram to join in on the fun!

She's a doula, domestic violence advocate, runs an educational community garden, and provides food for her family from her own backyard...all while enrolled full-time in college courses to become a licensed social worker!

THE BIG 1-0-0! 🎉 Olejnik Farms & Greenhouses has been a community fixture at the corner of 23 Mile & Card in Macomb Township for a full century!

It is my very great honor and privilege to showcase the family's horticultural history in print when Macomb Gardens & Greenspaces hits bookshelves next spring. I visited their bountifully bloomin' business right before their opening day in May, and will continue visiting throughout the rest of the year to document their incredible triple-digit legacy.
