Built new—but full of history.

This Flushing, Michigan, kitchen started with a clear vision: industrial edge, modern farmhouse warmth, and a space that didn’t feel overdone.

There are no upper cabinets; just open shelving that keeps things simple, paired with a brick backsplash. KraftMaid cabinetry in a Sedona Rustic Alder door with a Shortbread finish adds warmth, while Calacatta Laza quartz brings a clean, durable surface to the island.

Storage didn’t disappear—it just moved. Everything is built into the base cabinetry, keeping the space open without sacrificing function. Even the refrigerator was enclosed for a more built-in look.

The front doors tie it all together. Salvaged decades ago from a church barn and once used as a workbench, they now live on in this space—bringing character and history with them.
